    摘要: Techniques for sending messages for system access are described. In one aspect, a user equipment (UE) sends a first message with power headroom and/or buffer size information for system access. A Node B determines at least one parameter (e.g., a resource grant, power control information, etc.) based on the power headroom and/or buffer size information. The Node B sends a second message with the parameter(s). The UE sends a third message based on the parameter(s), e.g., with uplink resources indicated by the resource grant, with transmit power determined based on the power control information, etc. In another aspect, the UE sends a radio environment report in the third message. The report may be used to select a cell and/or a frequency for the UE. In yet another aspect, the second message includes power control information, and the UE sends the third message based on the power control information.

    摘要: A control scheme using packet headers allows GSM EDGE Radio Access Network (GERAN) systems to increase spectral efficiency through multiplexing techniques, such as superposition coding, multi-user packet transmission, joint detection, and/or joint decoding. A fast feedback scheme for GERAN allows Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) frames to be transmitted over GERAN air interfaces without excessive feedback latency. As a result, Hybrid Automatic Repeat-reQuest (H-ARQ) acknowledgements may be timely provided for end-to-end VoIP calls that traverse GERAN air interfaces. Additionally, Incremental Redundancy H-ARQ and link quality feedback latencies are decreased.

    摘要: Techniques for utilizing multiple carriers to substantially improve transmission capacity are described. For multi-carrier operation, a terminal receives an assignment of multiple forward link (FL) carriers and at least one reverse link (RL) carrier. The carriers may be arranged in at least one group, with each group including at least one FL carrier and one RL carrier. The terminal may receive packets on the FL carrier(s) in each group and may send acknowledgements for the received packets via the RL carrier in that group. The terminal may send channel quality indication (CQI) reports for the FL carrier(s) in each group via the RL carrier in that group. The terminal may also transmit data on the RL carrier(s). The terminal may send designated RL signaling (e.g., to originate a call) on a primary RL carrier and may receive designated FL signaling (e.g., for call setup) on a primary FL carrier.

    摘要: A scheduler permits efficient and flexible scheduling between simultaneous users of an air interface in a wireless communication networks in consideration of desired QoS parameters and class-based preferential scheduling. By appropriately defining the utility functions used by the scheduler in user scheduling, scheduling may, among other goals, be biased toward satisfaction of average or minimum throughput constraints, be biased toward meeting QoS delay constraints, or be biased based on combined considerations of these goals. Where QoS delay constraints are considered, the scheduler might adopt a dynamic approach to updating delay terms in the utility functions, such that users are not over-served or underserved relative to a desired quality of service.

    摘要: In a wireless communications system wherein control-less subframes share a common carrier with subframes that include control signaling, a method performed by a base station may include receiving a first indication from a network entity to maintain a designated set of subframes on a common carrier devoid of designated downlink control signals. The method may further include providing a second indication in a wireless transmission to a mobile entity, the second indication enabling identification of subframes in the designated set (i.e., the control-less subframes) by the mobile entity. In turn, identification of control-less subframes by the mobile entity prior to decoding the subframes may enable a more efficient control of blind decoding operations at the mobile entity and reduce blind decoding operations required for the mobile entity to decode downlink control information.
