摘要： In an ink jet printing apparatus using many types of inks to execute bidirectional printing, if ejection opening rows for yellow, magenta, and cyan inks are symmetrically arranged, ejection opening rows for a black ink are arranged adjacent to the most inside ejection opening rows for the yellow ink. Thus, a difference in color between forward scanning and backward scanning is determined by a difference in coloring between the black ink and the yellow ink. In this case, a possible color drift attributed to bidirectional printing can be suppressed by selecting the inks so that the difference in coloring between the black ink and the yellow ink is smaller than that between the black ink and the other color inks.

摘要： Disclosed are an image processing apparatus and method for the purpose of preventing overlapping of dots between two colors in low-density areas in color pseudo-grayscale processing, thereby obtaining excellent placement of the dots of each color. When a color image is binarized, an error is added to a respective one of color components (I0,I1), after which output decision means (2) decides an output value in accordance with the value of the sum in such a manner that the sum of pixel values after conversion will be rendered constant. Error calculation means (3-0, 3-1) calculate differences between pixel values before and after binarization as errors, and error diffusion means (9-0, 9-1) calculate values to be diffused to a neighboring pixel. Weighting coefficients used at such time are decided in accordance with combinations of values of the color components (I0,I1) of pixel values in the original image. The output value decided by the output decision means (2) is printed out by a printer or the like.

摘要： An ink jet printing apparatus including: a print unit having a polarity of ejection outlet arrays, for ejecting ink,; a scan unit for scanningly moving the print unit relative to the print medium in a main scan direction; and a feed unit for feeding the print medium relative to the print unit in a direction which is different from the main scan direction, wherein an image is formed on the print medium while repeating a scanning operation of the scanning unit and a feeding operation by the feeding unit. The apparatus also includes an information obtaining unit for obtaining image information; and a selecting unit for selecting at least one of the ejection outlet arrays to effect printing for the image data in a predetermined area, on the basis of the information obtained by the information obtain unit about image formations.

摘要： An apparatus that includes a recording head having a plurality of recording elements arranged in a first direction is scanningly moved relative to a recording material in a second direction which is different from the first direction. The apparatus includes a motor driver for scanningly moving the recording head to the recording material in the second direction and a CPU/MPU for controlling driving of the recording head such that while scanningly moving the recording head in the second direction, the recording is effected such that a recording band region which extends into a second region and which is recorded using part of a continuous recording element and a non-recording band region which is not recorded, appears alternately, and by a different scanning movement, the non-recording band region is recorded. The recording band region and the non-recording band region have the same size.

摘要： A construction of a printing apparatus wherein a printing registration with respect to forward and reverse scans of a printing head and a printing registration with respect to a plurality of printing heads are automatically carried out is realized without rendering the apparatus complex or causing its production cost to rise. To this end, the optical sensor for measuring patterns formed for use in printing registration is also used to serve other purposes such as a detection of a printing home position or a detection of a printing medium's end. Furthermore, by appropriately controlling a single optical sensor according to each of various intended purposes, the optimum characteristics are utilized in each respective operating mode. Because of the above, the addition of sensors to be used only for the purpose of printing registration and the accompanying rise of the print apparatus production cost are restrained.

摘要： It is checked whether an ink used in a printhead has a high density. The type of a printing medium used for a print operation is also identified. An image is printed by scanning the printhead once or a plurality of times. When a print operation is to be performed by using a thick ink, an image is printed by using mask data and the driving frequency of the head which are set for the thick ink. When a print operation is to be performed by using a thin ink, an image is printed by using mask data and the driving frequency of the head which are set for the thin ink and the type of printing medium used for the print operation. Codes of the respective color data of print data are determined in accordance with the types of inks used for a print operation, and an image is printed by printing a plurality of dots or dots in an overlapping state by the multi-pass method.

摘要： A user interface for high-quality image output and an image processing apparatus utilizing the user interface which performs apparatus setting for appropriate printing by selecting a print medium and a print mode in accordance with the type of ink cartridge. When an exchangeable ink cartridge, containing YMCK color ink or ink having different ink densities from those of the YMCK color ink in approximately the same color hues, is attached to a printer, the type of the ink cartridge is discriminated by an ink cartridge ID, and available print media and appropriate output image types are displayed for user's selection based on the ID. Then print operation is set in accordance with instruction by the user.

摘要： The present invention relates to an image processing method and an image processing apparatus, and an object thereof is to improve resolution and also suppress indention of contour, thereby improving image quality. In order to achieve the object in a case where multi-gradation image data is quantized to be converted into quantized pixel patterns, a smoothing portion of a quantized image is detected and a contour of the quantized image is corrected by interpolating pixels of the detected smoothing portion the quantized pixel pattern of the smoothing portion in the detected quantized image is replaced by a pixel pattern for smoothing stored in a memory.

摘要： In an image processing device for recording images with Y, M, and C color ink, a received Bk image is recorded with a color more similar to an original black color and solves a problem caused by too much amount of ejected ink such as bleeding with other colors or feathering. An image data consisting of four color elements of YMCBk is entered from a host computer, a Bk conversion unit converts the Bk element to respective Y, M, and C elements by masking of respective Y, M, and C elements generated randomly for the entered Bk element image data, and an image synthesizing unit synthesizes the converted YMC elements with the entered YMC elements. Then, an image recording unit for forming an image with three colors of YMC forms an image based on the synthesized YMC elements and records the image on a recording medium with ejecting YMC ink from a recording head.
