    摘要: A storage apparatus is configured to detect a connection from a new host system having no logical unit assigned thereto. The storage apparatus assigns, if any new host system is detected, a new logical unit to that new host system. By so doing, it is possible to generate a logical unit and associate it with a relevant host system whenever a storage apparatus is introduced or a new host system is added, without input from a storage apparatus administrator at a management console. It is thus possible to simplify the storage apparatus settings required whenever a storage apparatus is introduced or a new host system is added.

    摘要: In a storage system that manages update prohibition (WORM) information, when time management is not performed with precision, there arises a possibility that an update prohibition (WORM) attribute may be erased before a preservation period expires. This invention provides a storage system coupled to at least one of time servers through a network, including: a first time information holding unit that holds first time information to be used to manage an update prohibition attribute of data; a second time information holding unit that holds second time information to be used to establish time synchronization with a device coupled to the network; and a time update unit that manages the first time information and the second time information, in which the time update unit receives third time information from the at least one of the time servers and judges whether the third time information satisfies a predetermined condition, and updates the first time information based on the third time information when the third time information satisfies the predetermined condition.

    摘要: A hybrid-type storage system having both SAN and NAS interfaces can be implemented by simple hardware capable of carrying out a SAN function independently of a NAS function and a NAS load. To be more specific, a controller of the storage system comprises a NAS controller for accepting an I/O command issued for a file unit and a SAN controller for accepting an I/O command issued for a block unit. The NAS controller converts an I/O command issued for a file unit into an I/O command issued for a block unit, and transfers the I/O command issued for a block unit to the SAN controller. The SAN controller makes an access to data stored in a disk apparatus in accordance with an I/O command received from the SAN or from the NAS controller as a command issued for a block unit. The NAS and SAN controllers are capable of operating independently of each other.
