摘要: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for using a random offset to achieve power savings. For certain aspects, a Basic Service Set (BSS)-specific offset may be added to the (partial) association identifier (AID) prior to entering the partial AID into a 9-bit field of the physical layer (PHY) header (e.g., bits 13-21 of the NSTS field). The BSS-specific offset may be selected randomly by an access point (AP) and signaled to the associated stations (STAs) through the association response, or the offset may be communicated to the STA via other means. In this manner, the value in the 9-bit field for downlink transmissions may, with high likelihood, be different from one BSS to the next, allowing STAs to remain awake only when a frame is being transmitted to them.

摘要: Apparatus and methods of peer discovery in a communications network include generating a discovery request configured to identify a Tunneled Direct Link Setup (TDLS) capable peer device, transmitting the discovery request, and determining if a discovery response is received in response to the discovery request. In an aspect, the apparatus and methods may encapsulate the discovery request in a data frame such that the discovery request is transparent to an access point. In other aspects, the apparatus and methods may form the discovery request by appending TDLS capability information to a probe request. Additionally, the apparatus and methods may include determining if a discovery response is received in response to the discovery request. Thus, the apparatus and methods provide a deterministic method of peer discovery, so that a list of potential peers that are TDLS capable can be available before attempting a TDLS direct link setup.

摘要: Systems, methods, and devices for acknowledging communications from a plurality of devices for acknowledging communications from a plurality of devices are described herein. In some aspects, a group ACK includes a bitmap indicating whether a communication has been received from each of a plurality of apparatuses within a previous period. The previous period may comprise a time period since a previous ACK. In some aspects, group ACKs are transmitted pursuant to a schedule. For example, group ACKs may be transmitted a scheduled time after transmitting a beacon. In some aspects, a bitmap indicating whether a communication has been received from each of a plurality of apparatuses within a previous period may be transmitted in a beacon.

摘要: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for utilizing a physical layer (PHY) header comprising an identifier for an access point (AP) or a Basic Service Set (BSS). A station (STA) that is assigned an order in a sequential response sequence may count only frames with PHY headers that contain the correct identifier. A STA may terminate its sequential access procedure when it receives a frame with a PHY header that specifies a different identifier for the AP or BSS that assigned the sequence. In this manner, the STA may prevent partly synchronizing to an overlapping network and avoid accessing the wireless medium at the wrong time.

摘要: This document describes, among other things, a method that includes transmitting a calibration initiation frame from a first wireless communication device to a second wireless communication device that comprises a single space-time stream transmitter via a wireless communication medium. The method also includes receiving at the first wireless communication device an acknowledgement frame sent from the second wireless communication device after the second wireless communication device receives the calibration initiation frame. The method further includes transmitting a null data packet (NDP) frame from the first wireless communication device to the second wireless communication device after receiving the acknowledgement frame. In some implementations, the method also includes performing beamforming calibration of a wireless communication channel between the first wireless communication device and the second wireless communication device based on the acknowledgement frame.

摘要: Systems, methods, and devices for reducing the overhead required to transmit acknowledgment messages (ACKs) are described herein. In some aspects, the ACKs are reduced in size. In some aspects the ACKs include several short training fields. In some aspects, a receiver of the ACKs can determine the transmitter of the ACK based on when the ACK is received. In some aspects, a receiver of the ACKs can determine the transmitter of the ACK based on information superimposed on the short training fields in the ACK.

摘要: Stations in standby mode periodically wake up to check for buffered data at the access points. Traditionally, the information is available by checking the periodic beacon frame for a traffic indication map (TIM). Unfortunately, the length of beacons has steadily increased with the progression of the various wireless standards requiring stations to wake up for longer periods to merely check for buffered data. Several approaches are disclosed which address this shortcoming, including the broadcast of TIM frames, the partial reception of beacon frames and the use of an embedded TIM frame within a beacon frame.
