摘要： The subject application is directed to a system and method for generating context sensitive help for a graphical user interface. Display data corresponding to a plurality of indicia is first generated on an associated display, each indicia corresponding to a functionality of an associated information processing device. Selection data is then received corresponding to a selected indicia from those displayed. A touch down signal is then received corresponding to a tactile exertion of positive physical pressure. Duration data representing the duration of the exerted positive physical pressure is then received. A display of data associated with the functionality of the information processing device is subsequently triggered in accordance with the selected indicia corresponding to the received selection data and the received duration data.

摘要： The subject application is directed to a system and method for routing electronic documents to an unspecified document processing device. An electronic document is first routed to a document processing queue via a computer network. The queue is further accessible by multiple document processing devices via the network. A job processing request is then received from an associated user via a user interface associated with a selected document processing device. The request includes an instruction from the user to commence processing of the electronic document that is stored in the document processing queue. The job processing request is then communicated to the document processing queue for release to the selected device. The electronic document is then communicated to the selected document processing device. The cost is then calculated associated with the requested document processing operation and the operation is performed upon receipt of payment.

Multiple virtual record containers are contained in a document management system, with each container associated with a corresponding record locator. Each record locator is a unique identifier, and is in turn associated with one or more items, such as files, folders, documents, groups of folders, or images. Each of these items are associated with one or more record locators, allowing them to be stored in the corresponding record container. A user is able to download all associated items of the a record container to a desktop, irrespective of the drive or directory in which each of those items reside.

When a document processing device receives a document processing request, the device first determines whether a source document is present on the automatic document feeder or on the scanner device. A scan operation is initiated to detect the presence or absence of a source document. When no such source document is present, a visible alert is generated on an associated user-interface, illustrating to the user the absence of a source document. The user is then prompted to provide a source document to the document processing device. A second scan operation occurs and when the source document is present, the requested document processing operation is completed.

摘要： This invention is directed to a document processing system and method. The method begins with a user logging onto a document processing system, inputs identification data, and selects one or more documents for document processing by the document processing system. The selected document is then uploaded to the document processing system, which renders the document to determine the number of pages and other document relevant information. The user then selects one of the available service locations. The cost associated with the requested document processing operation is then calculated and displayed to the user, along with available payment options. Once the user has selected the desired payment method, the document, with selected options and preferences, is transmitted to the selected service location for output on a document processing device thereon. The received request is stored in queue until such time as the user releases the request for further processing. When the request is resident in the queue for greater than a predetermined time, it is deleted automatically. To release the queued document for further processing, the user is required to log onto the document processing device, select the document from a list corresponding to the user, and verify payment. The requested document processing operation is then performed.

Schema input data is first received from an associated user and tested for acceptability. When the schema input data is unacceptable following the testing, the associated user is then prompted for corrected schema input data. The presence of software tools required to implement the schema instructions specified by the schema input data is then tested and a signal is generated when such required software is absent. A representation of the complete schema is then generated, including the schema input data, and the associated user is prompted to confirm the acceptability of the complete schema setup. The associated user then confirms the acceptability of the complete schema setup and the schema input data is then communicated, following user confirmation, to an associated database server for implementation.

摘要： A method and apparatus for manipulating an electronic document. Electronic document data representing pages to be rendered on an associated output device are received and displayed to a user as tiles. A user creates a binder document to which are added images of the pages of a document or documents. The user, via a graphical user interface, is able to selectively arrange the pages in the binder. Using drag and drop or cut and paste techniques, pages are copied from the original document or documents in a document management system and pasted into the binder. As the pages are placed in the binder, they are converted into an appropriate format, corresponding to a preselected binder format. The binder document is then capable of being stored, printed, viewed and managed as an individual document.

The fees charged are based on the number of pages of the document, file, or other data stored. The fees are charged at the commencement of the services, rather than each day. The fees are also based on the location form which the services are accessed based on selected criteria of such location. Renewal of the storage duration includes fees are those fees charged when the document, file, or other data was first stored.
