    摘要: A top-emitting organic light-emitting diode (OLED) device, comprising: a substrate; an OLED comprising a reflective electrode formed on the substrate; one-or-more layers of organic light-emitting material formed over the reflective electrode; and a transparent electrode formed over the one-or-more layers of organic light-emitting material; a light-scattering layer having a rough surface formed over and in contact with the OLED, a cover affixed to the substrate forming a gap between the cover and the light scattering layer; and wherein the gap is a vacuum or the gap is filled with a relatively low-refractive index gas and the light-scattering layer comprises a plurality of relatively high-refractive index light-scattering transparent particles projecting into the gap without contacting the cover and further comprising an adhesive binder in contact with at least some of the light-scattering particles to adhere the light-scattering particles to the OLED.

    摘要: A tuned OLED device includes a microcavity structure including a light-emitting layer for producing light, a semitransparent reflector, and a reflector layer disposed on opposite sides of the light-emitting layer, the microcavity structure enhancing on-axis light produced from the light-emitting layer in at least one particular wavelength to produce a desired on-axis viewed color while not substantially enhancing on-axis other wavelengths of such light; and a layer including a color change medium which is responsive to wavelengths of light shorter than the particular wavelength by absorbing such shorter wavelengths of light and emitting light corresponding in color to the particular wavelength, thereby improving the color of the light produced by the OLED device when viewed in an off-axis direction.

    摘要: An area illumination apparatus, including a multiplicity of spaced-apart OLED devices electrically connected in series including a common substrate and each OLED device formed simultaneously over the common substrate; and a power source connected to the first and last OLED devices of the series of spaced-apart OLED devices. The series of OLED devices formed simultaneously on a common substrate can be manufactured in situ. Moreover, by serially connecting the OLED devices the application of power to the devices is simplified. A socket can be used to readily adapt the area illumination apparatus for use with the existing lighting infrastructure.

    摘要: Method and apparatus are disclosed for transferring organic material from a donor onto a substrate to form a layer of organic material on one or more OLED devices, by aligning first and second fixtures in a reduced pressure environment and positioning the substrate and donor in a chamber defined by the aligned first and second fixtures; increasing the pressure applied to the non-transfer surface of the donor so as to ensure the position of the donor relative to the substrate; moving a member provided on the first fixture from a closed to an open position which permits the transmission of radiation onto the non-transfer surface of the donor so that heat will be produced and organic material transferred from the donor to the substrate; and illuminating with radiation the donor through the open radiation-receiving position to cause the transfer of organic material to the substrate.

    摘要: A magnetooptical recording medium is described having a substrate, a seed layer structure having at least two layers including a first layer formed on the substrate and having amorphous ITO and having a thickness of greater than 20 nm but less than 200 nm; and a polycrystalline metal layer formed directly on the first layer having a thickness of 0.2-3.2 nm. The recording medium further includes a recording multilayer of alternate layers of platinum and cobalt or palladium and cobalt alloy deposited onto the said seed layer structure, whereby the said seed layer structure is selected to improve the coercivity and squareness of the recording multilayer.
