    摘要: A recordable optical disk including a transparent substrate; a recording layer formed over the substrate; a reflective layer formed over the recording layer; and a thin metallic interlayer formed on the recording layer at the interface between the reflective layer and the recording layer wherein the thin metal interlayer includes materials selected from the group consisting of Pd, Ni, Sn, Au, In, Te, Si, Ge, and alloys thereof, the interlayer being selected so as to improve the optical disk recording stability without significantly affecting the reflection of a recording light beam passing through the substrate and the recording layer and which is reflected by the reflective layer.

    摘要: A master for the replication of optical elements is prepared by the steps of:(a) focusing an information modulated energy beam on a phase-change optical recording layer so as to form a pattern of two different phases in said layer corresponding to said information; and(b) selectively etching away one of said two different phases so as to form a relief pattern corresponding to said information.The master so made can be used directly as the stamper in the injection molding process or the 2-P process for the replication of optical elements.

    摘要: A composite quasi-crystalline material made of a polymeric support matrix having disposed therein polar quasi-crystals of photochromic spiropyran complexes, believed to be of the formula A.sub.n B, in which A represents the "colorless" photochromic spiropyran molecule and B represents the colored merocyanine form which is the photolysis product of A, and n is 2 or 3. The polar quasi-crystals are present in the composite material in a substantially polar aligned form. Methods for making the composite material are also disclosed.

    摘要: Disclosed is an imaging method based upon the selective exposure of a select pair of photoactive materials to actinic radiation. According to this method, charge exchange between materials of a photosensitive mixture results in the selective decomposition of one of the components of said mixture. In the event that the above materials are dispersed within a polymeric film, the selective decomposition of one of these dispersed components will be manifest by changes induced in the polymeric film. Such changes in the characteristic properties of the film will, of course, vary depending upon the content of the dispersed photosensitive components in the film and the extent of decomposition of one of said materials.
