摘要: An apparatus for fabricating a unique nonwoven fabric which has the appearance of a woven fabric includes a supply station for parallel warp yarns, a support structure for orienting the parallel warp yarns into a cylindrical orientation, a weft yarn applicator for wrapping weft yarns around the cylindrically oriented warp yarns after an adhesive scrim has been overlaid onto the warp yarns, a heating station for activating the adhesive and a cooling station for setting the adhesive, and a cutter for severing the cylindrically formed fabric laminate so that it can be flattened and wrapped onto a take-up roller. The weft yarn applicator including a rotating drum wherein a plurality of spools of weft yarn material are mounted in circumferentially spaced relationship and a tensioner is provided for applying the weft yarn material around the warp yarns in a predetermined tension which may be the same as, greater than, or less than the tension in the warp yarns.

摘要: The invention relates to a method of producing reinforced, formed fabrics, consisting in producing a continuous fabric alternated with a membrane (34) containing embedded reinforcing elements, which is prepared in overlapping portions on a conveyor belt (29) which passes over a preparation table (25). The membrane (34) and the reinforcing elements are then positioned under a press consisting of an upper air-filled chamber (1), the lower part thereof comprising a flexible element (4), and a lower water-filled chamber (14), the upper part thereof comprising a flexible element (17). According to the invention, a forming bar (10) is adjustably mounted in the upper chamber (1). When the aforementioned forming bar (10) is adjusted to adopt a particular shape, the different flexible elements can deform at the forming bar and the membrane and the reinforcing elements are hot pressed with a portion corresponding to the forming bar having a three dimensional shape, thereby defining the form of the fabric produced.

The plurality of reinforcement elements are disposed in a pre-determined manner with respect to three generatrix lines, which have in common a determinate reference point, disposed in a substantially central position of the sail and each one passing through, or near, one of the three tops.

摘要: The present invention relates to polybenzazole fibers or filaments, staple fibers, spun yarns, and woven or knitted fabrics containing in themselves an organic pigment having heat resistance as high as a thermal decomposition temperature of 200° C. or higher, and soluble in a mineral acid and having group(s) of —N═ and/or NH— in the molecule, such as any of perinones and/or perylenes, any of phthalocyanines, any of quinacridones, and any of dioxazines, wherein they have a strength retention of 50% or higher when exposed to light from a xenon lamp for 100 hours and having a tensile strength retention of 85% or higher after exposed to an atmosphere of a temperature of 80° C. and a relative humidity of 80% for 700 hours.The polybenzazole fibers or filaments, staple fibers, spun yarns, and woven or knitted fabrics can be used for cords for reinforcing rubber, sheets and rods for reinforcing cement/concrete, composite materials, sail clothes, ropes, knife proof vests and bullet proof vests.

摘要: A sailcloth in roll good form permits efficient and cost effective construction of cross cut and vertical cut, laminate sails based on “off-angle,” (assymetrical) load bearing fibers. The sailcloth also may include a conventional warp and fill thread or fiber layout. Such sailcloth illustratively is significantly less susceptible to load force stretch, creep elongation, and airfoil shape deformation because, among other things, it is not dependent on the load bearing limitations of symmetrical, woven or knitted roll good sailcloth.

摘要: A sail body comprises sail body material with reinforcement stitching along expected load lines. Optionally, the sail body may be a molded, three-dimensional sail body. At least half of the reinforcement stitching may extend along at least half of the lengths of the expected load lines. The reinforcement stitching may also comprise a combination of stretch-resistant and controlled-stretch stitching styles, the combination of stitching styles may further comprise a length of stretch-resistant stitching followed by or preceded by a length of controlled-stretch stitching. Optionally, the sail body material may be molded to create a three-dimensional, molded sail body. The molding step may be carried out before the reinforcement stitching is applied to the sail body material.
