    摘要: A liquid medicine container includes a container body having threaded neck with an opening formed thereon for the entry of a liquid medicine into the container body. A seal member is fit into the opening to seal it. A through hole is formed on the seal member to be in fluid communication with the interior of the container body. The neck has a circumferential flange formed thereon with two recesses formed on the flange. The neck also has a groove formed thereon and extending in a direction substantially normal to the threading of the neck from a point close the circumferential flange, crossing the neck threading, to a point close to the opening. A cap member has an open end with segmented threading formed therein to be engageable with the neck threading for tightening the cap member on the neck wherein the edge of the open end of the cap member is in contact engagement with the flange and two bosses formed on the edge of the open end of the cap member received within the recesses formed on the flange. The groove formed on the neck serves as an air path when the cap member is turned to have the bosses slight away from the recesses.

    摘要: A mating closure and finish system particularly adapted for use with containers, e.g. bottles containing carbonated beverages which generate gas in the bottle headspace and where the bottle finish incorporates at least two equally spaced helical cam tracks. The closure is comprised of plural sets of cam followers which fit into the cam tracks and where the cooperation between the cam tracks and cam followers produces an axial movement of the closure as it is rotated on the finish. For a two track system, which is the preferred embodiment, each track starts 180.degree. from each other and makes at least one full turn around the circumference of the finish. Also included are intervening stops and tapered speed bumps that contact and impede the cam follower(s) in the cam tracks during closure removal to effect a delay. Raised thread segments which define the cam tracks are intersected by a plurality of vertical venting slots or pathways along their helical length to vent headspace gas. Longitudinally extending grooves are located in raised thread segments on either side of the cam tracks and couple with the vertical venting slots to provide a continuous venting conduit of the headspace gas. Anti-backoff devices are furthermore provided which operate when the closure is seated on the finish to keep the closure from backing off the finish and leaking prior to closure removal.

    摘要: A vent system adapted to be installed on a standard container, in place of a shipping and storage plug, for use in venting the container without requiring any modification to the container. The vent system includes a knob which is turnable in one direction to place the vent system in a vent closed condition, as for example for shipping the container, and turnable in the opposite direction to place the vent system in a vent open condition to permit air to be vented into the container during fluid removal. A vent housing is adapted to be screwed into a threaded opening of the container. The knob includes a cap and a ring which are held together by a tamper evident seal. The knob is captured by the vent housing to prevent unwanted removal of the knob and to prevent unwanted access to the container. The tamper evident seal must be removed for access to the vent housing and for removal of the vent system from the container. An alternate embodiment has provisions for preventing leaking of fluid from the container through the vent system in the event the container is tipped.

    摘要: A male core designed to be mateable with a female mold for forming vent slots in a thermoplastic closure. The male core comprises a cylindrical member having an end surface which forms an underside top surface and an inside surface of a downwardly depending skirt on the closure. A helical groove is formed about the periphery of the cylindrical member which forms a thread on the inside surface of the skirt. At least one integral rib is formed in the cylindrical member which is arranged parallel to the longitudinal axis of the closure. The rib forms a vent slot in the closure which traverses the thread. Convoluted surfaces are formed on the cylindrical member which extend from each side surface of the rib to the bottom of adjacent helical grooves. The convoluted surfaces provide smooth radii on the ends of the threads adjacent to the vent slot which facilitate axial stripping of the closure from the male core without deforming the threads into the vent slot. This enhances the passage of pressurized gas through the vent slot to the atmosphere as the closure is removed from a container.

The provision of the structural thread formation desirably facilitates high-speed molding of the closure, and desirably acts to reduce the quantity of plastic material required for molding the closure.

    摘要: A bottle with a two position cap for sealing and venting the bottle. The bottle has an opening defined by a neck and the neck has external helix threads. The threads are divided into two threaded segments separated by two diametrically opposed unthreaded regions. Each of these threaded segments lies between large ribs on the neck and the bottle opening. The large ribs extend half way around the external surface of the neck. Indexing ribs extend axially on the neck. The bottle cap has internal helix threads that also are divided into two threaded segments separated by two diametrically opposed unthreaded regions as on the neck of the bottle. A pair of spherical detents on the cap lie between each threaded segment and the open end of the cap such that each pair of detents may snap over one of the large ribs on the neck with a detent on each side of an indexing rib to loosely hold the cap on the bottle and indicate that the cap is in a venting position. The cap and bottle threads can be engaged to seal the bottle opening by rotating the cap on the neck causing one detent to snap over each indexing rib.

    摘要: A threaded bottle stopper for controlling the release of pressurized gases from a bottle is disclosed. The threaded bottle stopper is used in conjunction with an externally threaded bottle neck and comprises a cap having an internally threaded annular skirt depending downwardly therefrom and a tubular body portion extending downwardly from and integral with the underside of the cap. The outside diameter of the tubular body portion is such to permit insertion thereof within a neck bore of a bottle. The continuous thread on the annular skirt engages a continuous thread on the neck of the bottle where rotation of the threaded stopper in both directions moves the tubular body portion respectively into and out of the neck bore of the bottle. The bottle stopper is provided with means for sealing the discharge opening of the bottle neck. The tubular body portion of the stopper has gas release means on the outside surface thereof for controlling the release of pressurized gases from the bottle by providing at least one open-ended tortuous channel through which the pressurized gases pass before escaping to the atmosphere. The gas release means releases pressurized gases from the bottle while the threaded stopper engages the threaded bottle neck. The threaded bottle stopper provides a mechanical means for removing a stopper from a bottle containing carbonated beverages where the release of pressurized gases is controlled to preclude spillage and ejection of the stopper at a high velocity when the bottle is opened.
