Abstract:
A sliding door apparatus for closing and opening in a wall. The sliding door apparatus includes a sliding door having top and bottom edges, a door frame, a carriage secured to the top edge of the door and a drive mechanism for opening and closing movement of the door. The drive mechanism preferably includes a bi-directional effector, a power-storing power source and a controller configured to enable the door to be continuously closed but not locked when a continuously-closed signal is received by the controller.
Abstract:
A connection assembly is provided for interconnecting to a frame. The connection assembly including a generally flat plate. The plate is defined by an inner face, an outer face and a first pair of bolt-receiving bores therethrough. The pair of bolt-receiving bores extend between the inner face and the outer face along bore axes at acute angles to the outer face. A first lip extends from the inner face of the plate along a first axis and a second lip extends from the inner face of the plate along a second axis generally perpendicular to the second axis.

Abstract:
Apparatus and techniques for bracing roll down doors of a building against severe winds and against burglary use a vertical bar mounted in a quick release fashion to a plate mounted to the floor by the door and a mounting bracket, mounted to the building, which receives a bracket mounted to the vertical bar which slides into the bracket. The equipment can be provided in a kit form for easy installation by a homeowner, authorized dealer or contractor. The apparatus can be quickly and easily installed for security or when a threat of severe wind is anticipated and easily removed when the threat has passed.
Abstract:
A frame/filling combination, particularly in the form of a window or door, is provided for closing an opening in a wall that is to be closed and is delimited by a rough opening. The combination has a filling, for example a laminate glass pane, which is directly or indirectly accommodated in an opening of a frame under normal circumstances. In order to prevent the filling, in particular, from flying about uncontrollably from the effect of a pressure wave on the filling, the laminate glass pane is held in connection with the frame by a retention device, even if the laminate glass pane has burst out of the opening of the frame, as the result of a pressure effect, particularly an explosion-related pressure effect. The frame filling can be removed by the effect of pressure only if a connection device that holds it in the frame in the normal state is destroyed.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for generating repeatable closure of a volume measurement chamber are provided. More particularly, in one embodiment of the present invention, a dual articulating hinge is used to affix a chamber door to a volume measurement chamber, providing repeatable closure of a chamber door. In another embodiment of the invention, a laterally compliant magnetic latch is used to fasten a chamber door to a volume measurement chamber. In a third embodiment, a chamber door lid is mounted to a hinge bar via a ball joint, allowing the chamber door lid to self center about the chamber opening.
Abstract:
The present machine shed sliding door operator utilizes a gear and motor arrangement which rides back and forth with the machine shed sliding door when the sliding door is flopped back and forth against the shed by wind. The gear and motor arrangement slides in a stationary frame rigidly affixed in an upper corner of the door frame and continuously brings pressure to bear on a gear rack set in the door. A continuous meshing pressure on the gear rack by the gear arrangement is created by coil springs continuously pushing the gear arrangement against the gear rack.
Abstract:
A closure assembly for preventing transmission of interference fields, especially high-frequency magnetic fields. The assembly comprises a closure which is disposed to be movable with respect to a fixed structure, with the closure and/or the fixed structure being provided with elements for establishing contact and thereby preventing transmission of interference fields between the two. In accordance with the present invention, the closure is disposed to move substantially rectilinearly in a direction substantially perpendicular to a plane along a surface of the closure, and substantially rectilinearly in a direction substantially parallel to the plane of the closure.
Abstract:
An underground shelter (1, 2, 3) for aircraft is equipped with a vertical door (5) mounted for swinging about a lower horizontal axis (X), the swinging movements of this door being controlled by means of external jacks (13), with axes inclined with respect to the horizontal, adapted to be retracted into pits (16) which are closable when the door is closed.
