    摘要: A tap having a reamer edge which is provided at a chamfer part, so that when the thread forming tap is pulled out after the internal thread is formed, a seam portion present at the crest of the internal thread is cut off, whereby even in a blind hole, formation of internal thread and cutting of the seam portion are performed in a single process, and formation of an internal thread and processing of an inside diameter portion are achieved in a single process to obtain concentricity in line with each other. Further, even if there is a deviation in diameter of the hole before threading, the inside of the internal thread is processed to a constant value.

    摘要: A thread tapping cutting tool includes a working part with a chamfer portion, control portion, and at least two thread cutting wings (separated by flutes) formed therein. The chamfer portion is at least one half of the length of the working part. Each of the two or more thread cutting wings has a width of not more than 0.2 times a tap drill outer diameter of the working part, and not less than 0.02 times the tap drill outer diameter. The chamfer portion has plane surface lands on the cutting wings at the outer edge, and a relief angle of the plane surface lands is greater than 5 degrees. The core diameter of the cutting wings is defined by the depth of the flutes, and is not more than 0.35 times the tap drill outer diameter.

    摘要: A unitary bore forming and threading tool for producing a variety threaded bores having chamfers and counterbores without a need for tool changes. The improved took preferably includes a shaft of predetermined axial length and having proximal and distal ends, a shank located adjacent the proximal end, a holemaking element located adjacent the distal end, and a threadmill portion located axially between the bit and the shank. The holemaking element further includes a chamfering surface and an end cutting surface. The disclosed tool and method enable creation of a variety of bores such as chamfers, counterbores, and threaded bores by producing bore portions of selectively determined distinct diameters by sequentially axially feeding the tool into the workpiece along distinct tool paths without changing tools. If desired, one or more of the bore portions can be threaded with the threadmill by moving the threadmill in a selectively determined helical or nonhelical path.

    摘要: A hole tapping device having a motor driven tapping tool with a bracing frame for resisting reverse torque on the motor frame caused by resistance of the rotation of the tapping tool within a bore being tapped. The bracing frame has adjustable arms which provide adjustment in the radial and angular direction and which clamp stationary protrusions on the workpiece with rollers to hold the bracing frame against rotation in both directions about the axis of the bore. The adjustments of the frame provide great geometric versatility. The rollers provide for a smooth translation of the motor and bracing frame along the axis of the bore being tapped. A single coupler and a series of inserts allow for a series of differently sized tap tools to be driven through the use of a single coupler.

    摘要: Worn screw threads in the lower unit of a motorboat are repaired by cutting off the trailing end of a housing that is formed integral with the lower unit. The cut off part has the worn screw threads formed in it. A replacement part having pre-formed screw threads is welded into place to replace the cut off part, and a screw thread-cutting tool is used to clean and remove warpage from the screw threads in the replacement part after the welding is completed. An alignment tool holds the replacement part during the welding procedure.
