    摘要: A concrete storage tank structure comprises a tank including a floor slab having a periphery and a wall having inner and outer faces extending upwardly from the floor slab at a position adjacent the periphery of the latter. The tank structure further includes a shear pad extending outwardly away from the tank from a position adjacent a lower portion of the outer face of the wall. The shear pad and the tank are positioned relative to one another in such a way that a space is provided therebetween and a number of elongated flexible connecting elements are arranged so as to extend through the space in interconnecting relationship relative to the shear pad and the tank. A strip of resilient neoprene elastomeric material is disposed in the space. The shear pad is thus flexibly attached to the tank in such a way that the forces imposed on the wall of the tank by the shear pad during movement of the tank during use are minimized.

    摘要: A method for constructing a plastic lined concrete tank includes the forming of a plurality of plastic lined concrete panels. Each of the panels is made up of a concrete slab and a plastic sheet. The concrete slabs have opposed, laterally spaced, elongated edges and an inner surface and the plastic sheet each have a plurality of anchoring projections protruding outwardly from a face thereof. The panels are formed in such a way that the face of each plastic sheet is engaged against the surface of a corresponding concrete slab with the anchoring projections embedded in the concrete of said corresponding slab. The plastic sheets are arranged, configured and positioned such that a respective edge flap portion thereof projects outwardly beyond each edge of the corresponding slab and each such edge flap portion has an outboard segment. The panels are preferably constructed flat on the ground and then erected into a standing position and arranged in adjacent, aligned positions around a periphery of a tank foundation with the inner surfaces of the slabs facing inwardly, with the elongated edges of the slabs extending upwardly, with the respective elongated edges of each slab disposed in opposing spaced relationship relative to the elongated edges of adjacent slabs to thereby present elongated gaps therebetween, with the plastic sheets disposed within the tank periphery, and with the outboard segments of the edge flap portions of each sheet overlapping the outboard segments of the edge flap portions of the sheets of adjacent panels at said gap. The overlapping outboard segments are then welded together.

    摘要: The present invention is directed to improved tank structures and apparatus for their construction. The walls of the prestressed tank are formed by inflating a membrane, applying one or more layers of rigidifying material outwardly of said membrane and then prestressing the walls by circumferentially wrapping prestressing material to minimize the tension in the rigidifying material when subject to loading. In another embodiment, wall forms are placed inwardly of said membrane to aid in the forming of the walls and circumferential prestressing. In the best mode of the invention, the walls are of reinforced plastic, fiber-reinforced plastic, or resin sandwich composite construction. This application focuses on seismic countermeasures which may also be used to protect the structure against earthquakes and other tremors, by the anchoring of the tank walls to the base and permitting the seismic forces to be shared by the seismic anchors. When a seismic disturbance occurs, the force acting on the structure can be transmitted and distributed to the footing and around the circumference of the tank.

Circumferential prestressing can be applied to minimize bursting stresses. Further layers of rigidifying material can then be applied over the circumferential prestressing as a final protection and cover. The radial prestressing materials can contain spacers or hooks to preclude the circumferential prestressing material from riding up on the structure. The lower portion of the dome can include a reverse curvature to minimize stresses and stabilize the structure.

    摘要: An improved prestressed concrete tank having a core wall comprising elongated panels of precast concrete having on their outer faces a sheet of sheet metal presenting parallel, longitudinal, undercut channels is shown. The panels include lateral sheet metal flanges which extend parallel to the elongated sides of the panels and laterally outward therefrom. The flanges have a flange lip on the outermost edge of the flange. The lip extends outwardly from the tank in a direction substantially perpendicular to the panel. The panels are assembled in spaced, side-by side- relationsip such that the flange lips of adjacent panels are spaced from one another. A sheet metal splice member having a channel shape is interposed in the space between the flange lips of the adjacent panels. The splice member has upstanding sides which abut the lips of the adjacent flanges. The upstanding side and the flange lip adjacent to it are seamed together in a tight fold, thus locking the adjacent panels together. The advantages of this technique is that it creates a tighter, more waterproof seam between adjacent panels without penetrating the sheet metal diaphragm with sheet metal screws or other fasteners. Furthermore, such a joint eliminates the use of sealants in joining adjacent panels.

    摘要: In one embodiment, the concrete post-tensioned multiple dome and integral beam roof modules, utilizing cable-tendons as they are assembled into a roof, form the roof of a concrete water reservoir. A comparative minimum amount of materials are used in this embodiment which is designed to be substantially completely surrounded by earth. The earth fill above is of sufficient depth for the creation of scenic and recreational park facilities, and other multiple uses and also the soil depths in many locations will support tree growth. In this reservoir embodiment, of the overall roof modules, the concrete water reservoir has a continuous floor, inclusive of footings, surrounding side walls, selectively spaced interior shear walls perpendicular to the side walls, spaced columns, either pre cast or formed in place, posttensioned valley beams integrally made in modules with integral domes and supported on the spaced columns, horizontal cable tendons used in the post-tensioning of the overall arrangement of the integral valley beam and dome modules, and expansion, cushion, and sealing materials to accommodate expansion and contraction of the concrete reservoir during temperature changes and surrounding earth movements. Each dome consists of four alike integral roof portions, each one curved throughout on a radius first determined in a geometric plane perpendicular to its respective post-tensioned valley beam at the center of the beam, resulting in single rather than compound curvature construction.
