    摘要: A process for forming pinhole free ultra-thin flexible sheet material from natural graphite comprising treating low ash natural graphite particles with an oxidizing agent to intercalate the graphite, introducing the particles after they are dried to less than 2% by weight water into a furnace preheated to at least 2000.degree. F. to cause rapid expansion to a specific volume of at least 800 cc/gm and compressing the expanded graphite to below 8 mils in thickness with a density of less than 1.3 g/cc.

    摘要: A method of manufacturing an expanded graphite gasket comprises the steps of taking co-operating male and female mould members, the female mould member comprising a channel extending through a block from one face to a directly opposite face, the channel as seen in plan having a width and configuration corresponding to a desired gasket shape, presenting a substrate to one face of said block with said channel in register with said locations, filling the channel with a charge of expanded graphite particles, followed by pressing the charge with the male mould member onto the substrate to form a gasket thereon and thereafter removing the mould members.

    摘要: Flexible graphite layer material containing at least one metal moylbdate with a solubility in water of 10.sup.-2 to 10.sup.-4 g/100 ml to inhibit corrosion. The corrosion inhibitor may be incorporated by first immersing the graphite layer material in a solution of an alkali metal molybdate, drying, and then immersing in a solution of very soluble metal salt in which the metal when combined with molybdate to form metal molybdate has the defined solubility. The graphite layer material is then dried and contains the desired molybdate corrosion inhibitor.
