    摘要: A flexible, electrically heatable hose having an elongated electrical conductor which extends in the helical shape in the hose direction is illustrated and described. The object of providing a flexible, electrically heatable hose in which uniform heating over the hose length is ensured even in the event of major deformation of the hose, is achieved by a hose which has an elongated electrical conductor which extends in a helical shape in the hose direction, wherein the electrical conductor is embedded in a braid. In this case, the braid has first and second strands, wherein the first strands extend in a helical shape in the hose direction in the same winding direction as the electrical conductor, and the second strands extend in a helical shape in the hose direction in the opposite winding direction to the electrical conductor. The pitch angle of the electrical conductor, which extends in a helical shape in the hose direction, of the first strands and of the second strands is in this case between 50° and 80°.

    摘要: Disclosed in this invention is a method and device for de-icing, snow melting and thawing frozen ground. The invention is based on warm moisture-laden air that can be blown over the surface to be iced or thawed or it can be introduced into an enclosed area where de-icing, ground thawing or snow melting is desired. The device consists of three components: a hot water or a steam boiler with an associated pump; a plenum for heating and humidifying air; and a delivery unit or head that brings the moisture-laden air into contact with the surface to be de-iced or thawed. In one embodiment the boiler is replaced by a direct fired burner. The delivery unit may be an air blanket with multiple perforations attached to an air duct or an inverted saucer-like delivery head likewise attached to an air duct, coming from the plenum or it can be simply an enclosed space in which is located the object to be de-iced or thawed and into which the hot moisture-laden air is conducted.

    摘要: A freezeless wall hydrant has a normally horizontal fluid inlet tube with an interior end and exterior end. A hollow valve fitting is rigidly secured to the interior end of the inlet tube for a connection to a source of pressurized fluid. A movable ball is located with a fluid conduit that extends from the interior of the inlet tube to the location of the potable water source. When the water pressure inside the inlet tube increases because of the presence of ice, the high pressure of such water moves the ball to open fluid flow of the high pressure fluid to the source of potable water which will be at a lower pressure, thus reducing the fluid pressure within the inlet tube and saving it from rupture.

    摘要: The present invention provides a fluid handling apparatus for use in cold temperature conditions. In this respect, the apparatus of the present invention comprises a freeze protected conduit having a length comprising an elongated conduit for conveying or containing an aqueous liquid and an elongated compressible elastomeric material disposed within the conduit along its length. Alternatively, the conduit may comprise, at least in part, a substantially liquid impermeable membrane which is disposed in substantially adjacent relationship with a compressible elastomeric material. When exposed to freezing temperatures, aqueous liquid in conduits will freeze and expand. The compressible elastomeric material accommodates this expansion, thereby protecting the conduit from failure.

    摘要: A drain system for use with a conventional freeze-resistant faucet installed in a building structure including an elongate tubular housing surrounding the feed conduit associated with the freeze-resistant faucet. The housing has a fitting at one end for connecting with the water supply. A hollow plug of cylindrical shape being connected to the water supply end of the feed conduit. The hollow plug further includes an "O" ring seal on its exterior surface sized to fit snugly within the elongate housing when the feed conduit together with the hollow plug are inserted in the housing. Water from a ruptured feed conduit is collected within the housing and directed to the outside of the building structure.
