The subsea power distribution device includes a first watertight housing accommodating at least one transformer, having a primary winding and at least one secondary winding, input terminals electrically connected to the primary winding and arranged to be connected to a remote power supply, an output terminals electrically connected to the at least one secondary winding, and switches located within the first watertight housing and arranged to open and close the connections between each secondary winding and a corresponding output terminal. Each output terminal is further connected to an overcurrent breaking device which is further arranged to be connected to a subsea power consuming device. The overcurrent breaking device is arranged in a second watertight housing separate from the first watertight housing and is filled with insulating liquid.

The transmission lines (100) include segment modules (101) linked together with compliant splice modules (102) between the segments (101), typically installed in a protective conduit (103). The segment modules (101) include relatively rigid pipe-shaped conductors (117) insulated by pipe-like solid insulating layers (131) to form segment modules (101) that resemble pipe. The segment modules (101) are linked together through radially and axially compliant splice modules (102) to form the transmission line (100). There are preferably wheels (300) deployed to ease insertion and removal of the assembled segment modules (101) and splice modules (102) into the conduit (103), to center each segment module (101) within the conduit (103), and/or to provide motive force and/or braking to allow the assembled segment modules (101) and splice modules (102) to be installed on a slope.

    摘要: An optical voltage sensor for measuring voltage on an underground power line or for use in other scenarios in which access to a conductor is available through a blind hole. The optical voltage sensor includes a light modulating member, such as a Pockel's crystal. A reflective, conductive member is positioned at one end of the light modulating member and another conductive member is positioned at an opposed end. A voltage capacitively coupled to the reflective conductive member induces a voltage across the light modulating member, thereby impacting the amount of modulation. A beam of light is directed through the crystal and reflected back out of the crystal, where the amount of modulating can be measured. The amount of modulation indicates a measured voltage, and can be transmitted to a monitoring station where processing can determine the status of the power grid or generate other results based on the measured voltage.

The intumescent insert is mounted in the tubular main body so as to not contact the device frame to allow intumescent material to flow around the device frame in the event of a fire.

    摘要: A method for assessing insulation deterioration in a live underground power cable may include, in one embodiment, attaching a coupling device to a live underground power cable and using the coupling device to couple a test signal onto the power cable. The power cable may carry a normal AC power signal at a first frequency, while the test signal may have a second frequency different from the first frequency. The test signal may be detected after it has traveled a distance along the power cable. It may then be analyzed to determine a change in velocity and/or attenuation of the test signal as a function of the normal AC power signal. The severity of water trees in the power cable may be inferred based on the magnitude of the change.

    摘要: A drive controller arranged to provide electrical power from a power supply to a machine or load over a long AC power cable of the order of kilometers. The drive controller is arranged with circuits and/or control processes to provide AC current at a constant ratio of voltage and frequency to said machine or load. The drive controller maintains voltage and frequency at the machine terminals despite fluctuations in voltage and/or frequency that would ordinarily be caused by the load. This is done by estimating the voltage and current at the machine terminals and adapting the drive controller output accordingly to actively vary the converter output dependent on the load of the machine or other load. In other aspects of the invention a method and a computer program for carrying out the method are described.
