摘要: A reconstruction method comprising: obtaining (811) a region predictor for a current region of a picture based on a spatial prediction: obtaining (812) an information representative of a partitioning of the current region into sub-regions: reconstructing (813) at least one residual sub-region based on an intra prediction residual and an intra prediction mode and obtaining a reconstructed residual region from the at least one reconstructed residual sub-region, wherein all reference samples external to the current region used for reconstructing the at least one sub-region are set to zero before reconstructing the at least one residual sub-region: and, reconstructing (814) the current region based on the reconstructed residual region and on the region predictor by adding a final predictor obtained from the region predictor and the reconstructed residual region.

摘要: A coding unit having a size multiple of three in horizontal or vertical direction is coded through one of several embodiments. In one embodiment, for some block sizes, the coding unit is coded and decoded systematically through SKIP mode. In another embodiment, the coding units can be coded in SKIP mode or with a DC coefficient. In another embodiment, an asymmetric division of a common coding unit parent is performed and transform coefficients are factorized among at least two sub-blocks to encode a coding unit. In another embodiment, a separable two dimensional transform can be applied by applying a transform over the block in one direction, and using two one-dimensional transforms on sub-blocks in the other direction to code. Methods, apparatus, and signal embodiments are provided for encoding and decoding.

摘要: In block-based video compression, interpolation filters may be used in the process of motion compensation or in block-prediction to blend the pixels in the predicted block spatially and generate the reconstructed block. However, the content within a block can vary significantly across the block and using a single interpolation filter type for the entire block may not be sufficient to provide effective motion compensation. To address the concern more effectively, a subblock adaptive interpolation filtering approach can be implemented in a video codec to improve the quality of the reconstructed block while being able to keep file sizes small. Subblock adaptive interpolation filtering can be implemented by using different interpolation filter types for each subblock of the block. Subblock adaptive interpolation filtering can result in improved motion compensation and higher video quality.

The method and the apparatus for subband-coding the frequency conversion unit include generating an encoding stream by splitting the frequency conversion unit into one or more frequency domains, generating frequency domain encoding information according to whether there is a non-zero frequency coefficient in each frequency domain, scanning the frequency coefficient of each frequency domain to generate a frequency domain frequency coefficient stream, and binarizing and encoding the frequency domain encoding information and the scanned frequency domain frequency coefficient stream.
