    摘要: An electronic organ including a counter acting as a source of twelve repetitive time position multiplexed signals, each derived at a different time on a different lead, one time position being provided for each note nomenclature of the musical scale, time positioned pulses being gated through respective key switches having the same nomenclature as respective time position slots. All time positioned signals passed by any octave of key switches are combined on a single octave output lead assigned to that octave, and signals on octave output leads are selectively combined by coupler logic, output signals derivable from the coupler logic network being combined with pulse position signals derived directly from the source to provide coincident gate signals which cause tone source signals to be fed via tone color filters to an output load.

    摘要: A method of making low cost solar cells on a large scale basis by means of a continuous process of fabricating float glass and coating the float glass, in sequence, with tin oxide, cadmium sulphide, and copper sulphide, while the glass floats atop tanks of molten material in a furnace of proper temperature for each step of the process, the application of the coatings, in a preferred embodiment, being accomplished by depositing materials which form the coatings on contact with heated surfaces at such slow rates and, in the case of spray application, via drops of such uniformity that the float glass may (1) remain at uniform temperatures by virtue of the superior thermal conductivity of the molten material and retain those temperatures despite the abstraction of heat from the glass by evaporation of liquids and/or formation of crystalline layers, and (2) be substantially free of temperature gradients along the surface of the sheet glass.

    摘要: Organ output, comprising a band of audio frequencies, is divided into four frequency sub-bands, each of which is shifted in frequency by one of four respective diverse increments. The first and third sub-bands are acoustically transduced and radiated via a rotary loudspeaker and the second and fourth sub-bands via a stationary loudspeaker. These radiations are acoustically mixed with the radiated unmodified organ output to produce desired tonal effects. Frequency shifting of the sub-bands can be inhibited at will, means being provided automatically to maintain the acoustic signal level the same whether or not frequency shifting is in force, for a given setting of the expression pedal. Each of the four sub-bands can be shifted by either of two respective frequency increments, or inhibited, to permit selective variation of the overall acoustic effect. Frequency shifting for each sub-band is achieved by dividing the organ tone into three components of equal magnitude and 120* phase difference. To obtain the 120* spaced components, the input tone signal is applied to two phase shift filters which provide two of the components, the third component being derived by summing the first two components and inverting the resulting signal. Each component is applied to a respective section of four threesection modulators, each section comprising a transistor pair connected to form a DC differential amplifier with one input at AC ground. The emitter currents of each transistor pair are varied at the shift frequency by a three-phase oscillator, each modulator section being controlled by a respective oscillator phase. The outputs of each section of the modulator are combined to cancel the oscillator components provided at each section.

    摘要: An electropiano employing as a transducer rail one or relatively few strips of U-shaped aluminum extrusion between the arms of which are located a plurality of piezo-electric transducer elements separated from one arm by resilient damping pads located above metallic shims. The total number of transducer elements is about 25 percent of the number of tones, the transducers not being individual to the strings, but being acoustically coupled to the strings through the extrusion or strip. The strip is supported between the strings and a layer of resilient damping material which is located directly on the plate of the electropiano, and is secured only against gross lateral movement relative to the plate so that longitudinal acoustic vibrations along the length of the strip and flexural vibrations of the extrusion can occur. The transducer elements each have one electrode contacting an arm of the extrusion, which then provides a common electrical ground. The other electrode of each transducer contacts a conducting shim superposed on an electrical insulating and acoustical damping pad. These shims are connected to a common lead, so that all the outputs of a group of transducers may be applied to a common terminal. Damping means are provided just beyond the tuned segments of the strings, to provide tone diminution simulating that of a true piano.

    摘要: A photoresponsive device employing a silicon photocell to excite on illumination of the photocell, a transistor in a discriminator circuit and drive the transistor from a non-conducting to a conducting condition. The photovoltaic output of the silicon photodiode is added to the direct current potential of a bias source to exceed the threshold conduction potential of the discriminator transistor. Thermal stability is achieved by employing a transistor in the bias source of identical type and similar characteristics to the discriminator transistor. The discriminator transistor has an emitter-collector circuit which includes a load resistor, and the output which is developed across the load resistor is amplified by a common emitter transistor amplifier circuit. The transistor of the amplifier circuit is an N-P-N type, while the transistor of the discriminator circuit is a P-N-P type. In addition to employing a bias source responsive to ambient temperature, a second bias source is used to reduce the collector-emitter potential of the discriminator transistor responsive to temperature increases. The second bias source utilizes a thermistor in addition to the emitter-collector potential of a bias supply transistor in order to compensate for the nonlinear temperature-output characteristics of silicon photodiodes.
