摘要: A near-eye display apparatus for displaying a three-dimensional image to a user. The apparatus includes an image projecting means to project pairs of images associated with different cross-sectional planes of the three-dimensional image; at least one optical display arrangement including a plurality of optical elements, wherein each of the plurality of optical elements is operable to be switched between a first optical state and a second optical state; a control arrangement that is operable to control the at least one optical display arrangement to separately switch each optical element from the first optical state to the second optical state, and the image projecting means to project a separate pair of images on each optical element in the second optical state; and at least one optical device that allows display of the three-dimensional image to each eye of the user.

摘要: An apparatus for displaying a three-dimensional image. The apparatus includes a light source, an intensity modulator to modulate an intensity of a given light beam, a mirror device to modulate spatially the intensity-modulated light beam at a given time instant, a first optics to collimate the spatially-modulated light beam and an image waveguide comprising an in-coupling structure to receive the collimated light beam and an out-coupling structure comprising out-coupling sites. The image waveguide directs the collimated light to the out-coupling structure which selectively redirects multiple reflections towards a segmented optical structure comprising at least two types of segments to redirect a first part of the multiple reflections to form a first type image point P1 at a first focal distance d1, d1′ and a second part of the multiple reflections to form a second type image point P2 at a second focal distance d2, d2′.

摘要: A system for rendering three-dimensional image content for a multi-focal display device. The system includes a first processing sub-system configured to divide the three-dimensional image content into a plurality of virtual depth planes, associate each of the plurality of virtual depth planes with one of a first set of displays and a second set of displays of the multi-focal display device, and generate a first array including the plurality of virtual depth planes. The system also includes a transmission sub-system configured to provide a data channel for transmission of the generated first array. The system further includes a second processing sub-system configured to receive the generated first array and to render the three-dimensional image content in the multi-focal display device based thereon.

摘要: Displaying a sequence of three-dimensional images includes generating a data stream including a plurality of image planes associated with each image of the sequence of three-dimensional images, generating a bit-plane stream associated with the data stream, the bit-plane stream including a plurality of bit-planes associated with each image of the sequence of three-dimensional images, buffering the bit-plane stream asynchronously to provide a first plurality of bit-planes associated with a first three-dimensional image, and projecting a first plurality of image planes associated with the first three-dimensional image to display the first three-dimensional image, based upon the first plurality of bit-planes, the first plurality of image planes being projected until a second plurality of bit-planes associated with a second three-dimensional image is provided.

摘要: A liquid crystal cell including at least two substrates transparent to visible part of light spectrum, a liquid crystal layer encased between the substrates, and a stack of functional layers formed over the substrates and enclosed between a given substrate and the liquid crystal layer. In a direction from the given substrate towards the liquid crystal layer, said stack comprises a first dielectric layer, a transparent electrode layer, and a second dielectric layer. A refractive index of the first dielectric layer lies in a range between a refractive index of the given substrate and a refractive index of the transparent electrode layer. A refractive index of the second dielectric layer lies in a range between the refractive index of the transparent electrode layer and a refractive index of the liquid crystal layer corresponding to a homeotropic alignment of a liquid crystal material of the liquid crystal layer.

The first surface is arranged to reflect the directed image information towards a semi-reflective outcoupling surface, with an angle of incidence higher than a first angle. The semi-reflective outcoupling surface is arranged between the first and the second surface to reflect the reflected one or more image information towards the first surface, with an angle of incidence lower than the first angle. The image entry surface is arranged between the image source and a semi-reflective outcoupling surface.

摘要: Disclosed is volumetric display arrangement for representing content of an image at different focal distances in a view of real-world environment. The volumetric display arrangement includes at least one image projection unit operable to project multiple depth planes of the image, at least one electro-optical unit comprising two or more optical diffuser elements arranged parallel to each other, the at least one electro-optical unit being positioned to receive the projected multiple depth planes of the image thereon and configured to independently display one of the projected multiple depth planes of the image at one of the two or more optical diffuser elements at a given instant of time, and an optical combiner positioned with respect to the at least one electro-optical unit to combine the view of real-world environment with the independently displayed multiple depth planes of the image in the at least one electro-optical unit.
