A blooming type, hard surface cleaning concentrate composition includes as a blooming system the following essential constituents: a cationic quaternary ammonium surfactant; an anionic carboxylated alcohol alkoxylate surfactant; a surfactant compatibilizing agent; and, water. Further optional constituents may also be included including additional anionic, cationic, nonionic, amphoteric and zwitterionic surfactants especially to provide a further detersive effect; organic solvents such as alcohols, ethers, glycol ethers to aid in stain solubilization, as well as conventional additves such as coloring agents including dyes, fragrances, and others. In preferred embodiment, the concentrate compositions and cleaning compositions also provide a germicidal effect to hard surfaces. The cleaning concentrates exhibit a charateristic bloom when admixed to a larger volume of water, yet are substantially clear and shelf stable as concentrate compositions.

Alkaline aqueous hard surface cleaning compositions which exhibit good cleaning efficacy against hardened dried or baked on greasy soil deposits. They are storage stable, and are not undesirably irritating to the skin or mucous tissues of the user. These compositions comprise in percent by weight (based on 100% total weight of a composition):0.01-0.85% wt. nonionic surfactant compound based on an amine oxide;0-1.5% wt. chelating agent;0.01-2.5% wt. caustic;3.0-9.0% wt. glycol ether solvent system comprising one glycol ether or glycol ether acetate solvent having a solubility in water of not more than 20% wt., and a second glycol ether or glycol ether acetate having a solubility of approximately 100% wt., wherein the ratio of the former to the latter is from 0.5:1 to 1.5:1;0-5.0% wt. of a water soluble amine containing organic compound;0-2.5% wt. soil anti-redeposition agent;0-2.5% wt. optional constituents.The compositions according to the invention contain no anionic or cationic type surfactant constituents, and include no more than 10% wt. of volatile organic constituents (VOCs). Methods for the use of such cleaning compositions, and processes for their production are also disclosed.

An alcohol based disinfecting composition which contains from 0.1% to 10% of benzyl benzoate is effective in killing dust mites. The compositions can comprise additional disinfectants and are most conveniently applied in aerosol form with a suitable propellant. Allergens contained in the faecal matter excreted by dust mites can be controlled by removing dead mites and associated faecal matter using a vacuuming apparatus under conditions which do not cause the removed material to vent into the ambient atmosphere.

The aqueous septic tank maintenance compositions feature a high proportion of biologically active agents per unit volume or unit weight of the compositions, and reduced numbers of stabilizing compositions generally required to ensure storage and shelf stability of the biologically active agents contained therein. Processes for the production of these aqueous septic tank maintenance compositions, and methods for their use are also disclosed.

An aqueous cleaning composition for cleaning hard surfaces has been discovered, the composition comprising: (a) from about 0.1 weight % to about 5 weight % of a siloxane block polymers as structurally represented by Formula A, as follows: ##STR1## wherein PE is CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O(EO).sub.m Me, --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O(EO).sub.m H, or --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O(PO).sub.n Bu, where EO is ethyleneoxy and PO is 1,2-propyleneoxy and said siloxane block polymer has a molecular weight ranging from about 3000 to about 4000; (b) from about 0.1 weight % to about 5 weight % of a C.sub.9 to C.sub.15 ethoxylate; (c) from about 1 weight % to about 10 weight % of a C.sub.4 -C.sub.9 alkylene glycol C.sub.1 to C.sub.3 monoalkyl ether; and (d) from about 5 weight % to about 15 weight % of a chelating agent. The inventive composition imparts a residual protection on cleaned surfaces thereby assisting to hinder resoiling of the cleaned surface.
