    摘要: Valve closure means comprises conduit means movable in valve body between a closed position against a stop and an open position away from stop. Stem connected to conduit means extends through body to a spring that urges conduit means to closed position. Upstream pressure from inlet port in valve body is effective over cross-sectional area of stem to urge conduit means to open position. Valve opens when upstream pressure overcomes spring force. Conduit means has passage therethrough in which are telescoped tubes sealingly bridging between valve body and conduit means. In closed position of valve closure one tube surrounds outlet in valve body whereby outlet is sealed off from interior of valve body except over parallel area where other tube contacts valve body. The latter area is provided with a blank seat or a blind second seat to seal with tube. Therefore, downstream pressure acting on closure is balanced as far as components in direction parallel to plane of valve seat is concerned. Inner diameter of tubes where they engage carrier.     摘要: Shear valve includes a hollow valve body having inlet and outlet flow passages thereto, a flat faced seal plate at the inner end of each flow passage having a port therethrough communicating with the flow passage and a closure comprising stem means reciprocable in the valve body transversely to the flow passage axes, a cage carried by the stem means having a bearing opening extending therethrough, the axis of the bearing opening being generally parallel to the axes of the flow passages, and a pair of seals in the form of flat end faced tubes reciprocably coaxially mounted in the cage in sealing relationship therewith and spring and fluid pressure biased apart into sealing engagement with the flat faces of the seal plates. Improvement according to the invention includes means mounting the cage to be rockable relative to the stem means to allow the seals to lie flat against the seal plates and sealingly engage therewith. Three forms of rockable mounting are disclosed, i.e. double tapered support opening in a spool type stem means, elastomer Oring mounting cage in support opening of a spool type stem means, and a stem means comprising two coaxial rods rockably engaging diametrically opposed sockets in the cage.

    摘要: The present invention is directed to a connector of the type commonly used in underwater well drilling operations for control of the wellhead functions. The preferred embodiment utilizes a tapered stinger with a mating receptacle. A plurality of passageways are contained in both the stinger and receptacle, which passageways mate when the stinger is engaged in the receptacle. An improved annular seal is positioned around each of the stinger passageways to form a water and pressure tight seal with its mating receptacle passageway. Through these joined passageways hydraulic fluid, water or a mixture of both is pumped to perform the control functions. The seals are comprised of an annular resilient seal member which is secured to the stinger by an internally positioned retainer. A modification of the seal utilizes a reinforcing ring to prevent the flexible seal from improperly shifting positions in response to the pressure moving through the passageways.
