    摘要: Systems and methods are for monitoring a wear state of a disc brake for braking a rotor of a vehicle. The disc brake has a caliper configured to clamp opposing inner and outer brake pads onto the rotor. A primary wear sensor is configured to sense a combined thickness of the rotor, the inner brake pad, and the outer brake pad. A controller is programmed to calculate an estimated wear amount of the inner brake pad and an estimated wear amount of the outer brake pad based upon the combined thickness. In some embodiments a secondary wear sensor is included and the system is configured to calculate an actual wear amount of the inner brake pad and an actual wear amount of the outer brake pad based upon input from the primary wear sensor and the secondary wear sensor.

    摘要: A wheel hub includes a hub barrel and a hub mounting portion positioned concentrically around the hub barrel. The hub mounting portion includes a number of flange holes adapted to receive a number of corresponding wheel studs. A number of drum pilots are positioned one each between the hub barrel and the hub mounting portion and are concentric with the hub barrel. The drum pilots are radially aligned with the flange holes so that each of the flange holes has a corresponding drum pilot.

This places the most rigid part of the brake drum and the location of greatest heat sink over the most rigid portion of the brake shoes, which is also the position of greatest heat input. The axial cooling fins radiating from the squealer band aid in dissipating the heat from friction generated during the braking cycle.

A plurality of equidistantly spaced radially extending grooves are formed in the end face of the inboard section of the hub forming a plurality of radially extending pulse teeth, a sensor detects the rotation of the pulse teeth and provides this information to a logic unit of the ABS system.

    摘要: One embodiment of a brake drum includes a cylindrical main body portion, a brake drum mounting flange portion, a brake drum transition portion, the brake drum transition portion extending between the cylindrical main body portion and the mounting flange portion, the transition portion having a plurality of vent openings, and one air scoop secured at each of the vent openings, whereby rotation of the brake drum and air scoop induces air movement within a brake drum cavity defined by the main body portion. Each air scoop defines a louver opening which faces the angular direction of drum rotation, an air channel in fluid communication with the louver opening and the brake drum cavity, and a deflection surface located in the air channel. The deflection surface is positioned to re-direct air movement entering the louver opening at an angular direction, to a generally radial and inboard direction.
