    摘要: Methods and apparatus for encoding and decoding multimedia frames are presented. The method comprises encoding a set of acquisition frames including a viewable frame, each frame comprising one or more intra-coded portions and one or more inter-coded portions, wherein the act of encoding the intra-coded portions comprises positioning the intra-coded portions such that when the intra-coded portions of the set of acquisition frames are combined, a complete intra-coded composite frame is formed. The act of encoding the inter-coded portions comprises predicting the inter-coded portions such that the viewable frame is comprised of intra-coded portions and inter-coded portions that are directly or indirectly predicted from the intra-coded portions of the set of acquisition frames.

    摘要: A user terminal establishes a session with a first access point (AP0) and obtains a token associated with modem configuration information used for radio communication. The user terminal thereafter establishes a connection with a second access point (AP1) by sending the token. AP1 receives the token, obtains the modem configuration information associated with the token, and initializes an air interface protocol stack with the modem configuration information to obtain a modem-specific protocol stack for the user terminal. AP1 sends a response indicating successful connection setup. The user terminal and AP1 thereafter communicate in accordance with the modem-specific protocol stack. AP1 may attempt to fetch the session for the user terminal from AP0. If this is successful, then AP1 updates the protocol stack with the session information to obtain a complete protocol stack for the user terminal. The user terminal and AP1 thereafter communicate with the complete protocol stack.

    摘要: A method for improving channel estimation in a wireless communication system is disclosed. A wireless signal that includes a plurality of multipath components is received. N channel estimates are then obtained, where N is any positive integer greater than one. Each channel estimate of the N channel estimates corresponds to a different multipath component of the plurality of multipath components. The effects of interference between the plurality of multipath components on the N channel estimates is then reduced.

    摘要: A system to communicate a superposition coded packet from a base station to a plurality of remote stations. At the base station, from a list of user candidates for superposition coding a most deserving user may be determined. Those user candidates with a requested data rate less than that of the most deserving user may be eliminated. A superposition coded packet may be compiled from the remaining user candidates. On receipt, the most deserving user may process the superposition coded packet by assuming a predetermined power allocation. Further, if a user successfully in decodes early, power may be re-allocated to another user.

    摘要: An efficient use of downlink (DL) air-interface bandwidth during handoff of user equipment from a source cell to a target is provided. In conjunction with a handoff message to ensure receipt, expedited status exchanges are provided so that initial communications do not require a subsequent retransmission of duplicate data. A method for transmitting a dedicated Random Access Channel (RACH) preamble and cell information, receiving a RACH from the user equipment to start communication, and transmitting a handover message and a radio link control (RLC) status message or an UL grant in response to receiving the RACH is provided. Also, a method for receiving a handover message and target cell information from a source cell to start handover negotiations, initiating communication with target cell using the target cell information, receiving a handover message and (RLC) status message, and using the received information to approximate status reporting is provided.
