Abstract:
A method and system for transmitting data to a device is described. The method includes steps of comparing, in a server, a list of capabilities of the server against a list of capabilities of a mobile terminal and creating a list of capabilities in the server and not in the mobile terminal. The method and system wirelessly transmit, to the mobile terminal, a request to confirm the capabilities of the mobile terminal. The mobile terminal receives the request and the list of capabilities and compares the list of capabilities to current capabilities of the mobile terminal and then wirelessly transmits data identifying its capabilities to the server, the data including information of new capabilities of the mobile terminal. The server then updates the list of capabilities of the mobile terminal based on the information of new capabilities.

Abstract:
Various techniques for service access point configuration for mobile terminals of wireless systems are provided. Pre-configured service access point settings may be provided on a multimedia memory card with a client application capable of configuring the service access point settings in the mobile terminal from the pre-configured service access point settings on the multimedia memory card. Over-the-air updating of service access point settings may be performed by communication between a service access point and a mobile terminal or a client application on the mobile terminal for automatically configuring service access point settings on the mobile terminal based upon information provided by the service access point. Service content specific pricing in the mobile domain is also provided. Service content specific pricing content delivery may be provided through a particular service access point configured for the service content specific pricing.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method to deliver a set of song-related information to a terminal associated with a subscriber of a content provisioning system. The method includes establishing a subscriber profile for specifying at least a frequency at which the content provisioning system is to download to the subscriber at least one list of content, in the preferred invention at least one list of songs, that is updated in accordance with at least one criterion. The method further downloads the at least one song list to the terminal at a time that is based on the subscriber profile. Also disclosed is a content provisioning system, a network server and a terminal that operate in accordance with the method.
Abstract:
A system for uploading content includes a sender capable of sending an upload request, where the upload request comprises a request to upload content from the sender to a recipient. The system also includes a network entity, such as the recipient, capable of operating an upload agent. The upload agent, in turn, is capable of receiving the upload request, and thereafter determining an upload schedule relating to the time and/or manner of uploading the content. The sender can then be capable of uploading the content to the recipient in accordance with the upload schedule. The network entity can be further capable of recovering an upload session that has encountered an interruption.
Abstract:
A system for controlling storage of content in memory includes a network entitiy, such as a digital broadcast transmitter, a digital broadcast receiver or a terminal. The network entity includes an expiration control application capable of receiving a status of a at least one piece of content stored in memory of a terminal. Each piece of content is associated with at least one parameter including at least a client expiration time and/or a deletion priority value. Based upon the status and the associated parameter(s), then, the expiration control application can control storage of content in memory of the terminal.
Abstract:
A system is provided for forwarding content. The system includes a terminal capable of sending a request to transfer content, the request being sent from a terminal over a first network such as a wireless or other high latency network, and over a second network such as a wireline or other low latency network. The system also includes a source capable of sending the content, and a destination capable of receiving the content, both over the second network independent of the first network to thereby transfer the content from the source to the destination. By transferring content independent of the first network, the system can transfer content without the latency that follows from transferring content over such a wireless or other high latency network. Digital rights management of content transferred from a source to a destination is also provided.
Abstract:
A system for controlling memory for storage of content includes a network entitiy, such as a terminal or a content source. The network entity includes a download manager capable of receiving a selection of at least one piece of content. The download manager is also capable of reserving at least a portion of a storage capacity of memory of a terminal for at least one of the selected piece(s) of content such that the terminal can thereafter receive and store the selected piece(s) of content into the reserved storage capacity. To facilitate reserving storage capacity, the selected piece(s) of content and/or content stored in memory of the terminal includes a set of one or more parameters, such as an expiration time, a deletion priority value and/or a download priority value.
Abstract:
A system for controlling a flow of content includes a terminal and a network entity. The terminal is capable of sending a content status including terminal status information having a listing of one or more pieces of content stored in a memory of the terminal. The network entity includes a content flow manager that is capable of receiving the terminal status information. Then, based upon the terminal status information, the content flow manager can control the flow of content to the terminal. More particuarly, for example, the content flow manager can be capable of controlling the terminal to delete at least one piece of content from a memory of the terminal, and/or download at least one piece of content from a source of content.
Abstract:
A terminal for recording content usage statistics comprises a memory and a controller. The memory is capable of storing at least one piece of content. The controller, in turn, is capable of accessing at least one piece of content from the memory. The controller is also capable of operating a client application, which is capable of being triggered to obtain a location of the terminal by the controller accessing the piece(s) of content. The memory is also capable of storing, into a content usage log, at least one content usage statistic relating to the controller accessing the piece(s) of content. For example, at least one content usage statistic can include the location of the terminal. Additionally, or alternatively, for example, at least one content can include one or more statistics related to the terminal and/or the piece(s) of content accessed from the memory of the terminal.
