    摘要: A system and method for electronically monitoring and displaying digital flow data relevant to the administration of a parenteral fluid, such as a contrast medium, to a patient is disclosed. The system includes a disposable fluid flow indicator, adapted to be detachably connected in fluid communication with a contrast media source. The fluid flow indicator measures the amount of contrast media dispensed from the source and administered to a patient, and provides an indication of the amount dispensed based on the movement of a displacement indicator. Also disclosed is an electronic controller, which is adapted to be detachably connected to the fluid flow indicator. The controller includes a sensor interface circuit, which operably interfaces the electronic controller circuitry with the fluid flow indicator so that the fluid flow measurement indicator is optically detected by the sensor circuit, which in turn generates a representative electrical flow signal. The electrical flow signal is received and processed by a programmable digital processor contained within the electronic controller in a manner so as to continuously track and generate digital flow data. The digital flow data includes information regarding the amount of contrast medium remaining within the contrast source, and the amount of medium that has been delivered to the patient. The electronic controller also includes a digital display, which continuously displays the digital flow data. The controller also includes a series of user actuable switches, which permit the user to select various functions to be performed by the digital processor, including the ability to display digital flow data for prior patients, and the ability to select various operating parameters. Since the electronic controller is detachably connected to the flow indicator, the controller can be reused at the completion of a monitoring procedure. Also disclosed is a method for safely and efficiently monitoring and displaying the amount of contrast medium administered to a patient by using a programmable digital processor.

    摘要: Prophylactic needle guards or sheaths for protecting medical needles and persons using the medical needless either before or after use of the needle. The prophylactic needle guards have a flared portion in order to provide safe insertion of a medical needle into a protective hollow body portion. The needle guard includes structures which are configured to engage at least one of a variety of differently sized and configured wing portions found in medical needles. The needle guard may include a pair of projections that engage corresponding holes within the wing portions of medical needles that includes wings too large to enter the flared portion. Alternatively or in addition to the projections, the needle guard may include one or more interior annular grooves disposed on an inner surface of the flared portion that engage the wing portions of medical needles that have wings that are small enough to enter the flared portion.

    摘要: A line keep includes a substantially flat base having a top surface and an opposing bottom surface. Positioned on the bottom surface is a pressure sensitive adhesive. Extending through the base between the top surface and opposing bottom surface are a pair of spaced apart apertures. A first prong upwardly projects from the top surface of the base and terminates in a horizontally disposed first finger disposed over the first aperture. A second prong projects from the top surface of the base adjacent to the second aperture and terminates at a second finger horizontally disposed over the second aperture. The first finger and second finger face in opposing directions and are configured to project through opposing sides of a vertical reference plane extending through the base between the first and second prong. The prongs can be selectively moved between an upstanding position and a folded position wherein the fingers are positioned adjacent to the line.

Some embodiments are more suited to storing a single guidewire holder while other embodiments are designed specifically to hold a plurality of guidewires. The guidewire holder is generally configured as a shallow pan in a circular or ovoid shape with a periphery to hold the coiled guidewires. At least a portion of the guidewire holder is shaped so that the coiled guidewire is held away from at least the outer periphery of the holder. This enables a healthcare professional to reach into the guidewire holder and grasp a portion of the guidewire in order to easily extract the coiled guidewire from the holder.

    摘要: A sealing cap is provided for attachment to the end of a syringe plunger. The sealing cap has an annular sidewall with an annular first sealing wing projecting distally therefrom, an annular second sealing wing positioned proximal of the first sealing wing and projecting proximally, and an annular sealing ridge encircling and radially projecting out from between the first sealing wing and the second sealing wing. The sealing cap further includes an interior cavity having an annular side surface aligned with the annular sidewall. A side groove is recessed within the side surface so as to be aligned slightly proximal of the annular sealing ridge. The distal end of a syringe plunger has a head mounted thereon that is substantially complementary to the configuration of the internal cavity of the sealing cap. More specifically, a tapered ridge is formed on the periphery of the head to complementarily be received within the side groove. As a positive pressure is created against the sealing cap, the first sealing wing flexes against the interior surface of the barrel and the annular sealing ridge urges against the interior surface of the barrel, thereby increasing the effective seal. As a negative pressure is formed within the barrel, the second sealing wing flexes against the interior surface of the barrel to increase the effective seal.
