    摘要: An assembly for use on an aircraft wing having an aircraft skin and a fuel tank, the assembly comprising a metal access door for accessing the fuel tank, a metal retainer ring for engaging the wing and the access door. Fasteners removably couple the access door to the retainer ring. A lip, which may be on the wing surface, is configured to receive a perimeter of the access door when the access door is coupled to the retainer ring. A polyurethane elastomeric gel gasket having a metallic skeleton is configured to lay between the access door and a lip of the metal wing surface. Under compression, the polyurethane will deform and squeeze out the edges and flatten so as to provide metal-to-metal contact between the access door and the lip.

The pliable body includes a first portion having a first firmness and a second perimeter portion have a firmer consistency. When such a composite body is placed under compression, the perimeter will tend to limit the flow of the softer inner material past the firmer perimeter region or portion of the gasket. In this manner, creep or overrun of the less firm portion material will be reduced.

    摘要: A gasket for placement between a base of an aircraft structure and the underside of a workpiece, such as an aircraft antenna, is disclosed. The gasket has a cured polyurethane elastomeric gel body with a multiplicity of holes therethrough. The body typically has a flat lower surface and upstanding side walls, but the top surface is non-flat. The top surface may have sloped areas or raised tabular areas or a combination. The gel body may also have a skeleton member, such as a flexible metallic screen or other woven member. When the gasket is placed between the aircraft, base and the workpiece, threaded on fasteners, and the fasteners torqued down, the non-flat upper surface will flow such that, at proper torque setting, it fully coats and fully covers the underside of the workpiece and, typically, makes contact with the screen or skeleton member, which also makes contact with the upper surface of the base.

    摘要: An elongated, flexible composite gasket member having a knitted wire mesh rope at least partly impregnated with a soft, tacky, flowable, pre-cured polyurethane gel for use in a stuffing tube assembly. The stuffing tube assembly is used in a deck or bulkhead of a ship. The stuffing tube comprises a cable having insulation on a surface thereof, a metallic shielding jacket, and conductors therein, the cable having an exposed section of metallic shielding and non-exposed section; a metallic stuffing tube with an inner cable channel and an at least partly threaded gland nut receiver space, and a constriction between the gland nut receiver space and the inner channel; a gland nut adapted to threadably engage the gland nut receiver space; and a; wherein the cable passes through the gland nut and stuffing tube with the exposed section substantially wrapped in the elongated flexible composite gasket member the gland nut above the elongated flexible composite material and the constriction below. The flexible gasket member is in electrical communication with the cable and the stuffing tube.

    摘要: A spacer and gasket assembly is shown for receipt between a static structure having an outer and inner surface and fastener holes therethrough and a removable structure having a base with fastener holes and an upper surface and a lower surface. The static structure and removable structure are engaged through a multiplicity of fasteners having a shaft diameter. The fasteners are adapted to apply a compression on the gasket between the static structure and the removable structure. The static structure and the removable structure have opposed, typically flat, facing walls. The spacer and gasket assembly comprising a substantially non-compressible spacer adapted for receipt between the static structure and the removable structure having a spacer thickness. A gasket has a deformable, flowable, elastomeric body and a skeleton having a skeleton thickness, the skeleton substantially integral with the body. The gasket has an uncompressed gasket thickness. The spacer and the gasket are adapted to be placed substantially between the facing walls of the static structure and the removable structure and the removable structure will compress and deform the gasket when the fasteners are torqued down.
