    摘要: A provisional bone plate formed of an implantable plastic and having a length corresponding to the longest bone plate in a particular family of bone plates. The provisional bone plate includes a head contoured to match the head of a particular bone as well as a shaft for placement adjacent the bone shaft. The provisional bone plate includes a plurality of circumferential notches surrounding the elongate body or shaft of the bone plate. The circumferential notches are substantially transverse to a longitudinal axis of the bone plate and define frangible portions of the bone plate which can be removed from the distal end thereof to alter the length of the provisional periarticular bone plate to correspond to the length of the various bone plates in a family of bone plates. The provisional bone plate is constructed of a biologically suitable plastic, is radiographic, and melts at a temperature less than 200° Fahrenheit.

    摘要: A method for preparing a femur for receiving a prosthesis can include positioning an intramedullary (IM) member in the femur. A femoral trial component can be positioned onto a distal end of the femur. The femoral trial component can have an attachment portion and at least two cut surfaces thereon. A modular boss assembly can be attached to the attachment portion of the femoral trial component. The modular boss assembly can have a boss stem that is configured to operably connect to the IM member. A desired contact between the femoral trial component and the distal femur can be confirmed based on the attaching. The femoral trial component can be fixed to the distal femur based on the confirming. The modular boss assembly can be removed from the femoral trial component. A reamer bushing can be coupled relative to the femoral trial component.

    摘要: An orthopaedic gauge 1 for measuring a length dimension of an elongated orthopaedic device, such as a screw 50, 60, or 70 or a pin or other elongated orthopaedic device. The gauge 1 includes a base portion 10 having a fixed reference point thereon, such as a raised post 12, and a raised platform 20 extending from the base portion 10 and spaced from the reference point. The raised platform 20 includes a plurality of stops 22. One end of the orthopaedic device is positioned about the reference point and the device is swung through an arc about the reference point until the other end of the device abuts one of the plurality of stops on the raised platform. A suitable scale such as 38 or 39 is provided to correspond with the plurality of stops for determining a length dimension of the device.

The general instrument is selected from a predetermined group of off-the-shelf instruments. The first size-specific instrument has a first size selected from predetermined sizes. The patient-specific instrument includes a three-dimensional contoured engagement surface configured to nest into a portion of a native anatomy in a single location. The surgeon-specific instrument is selected based on a surgeon preference and is a different instrument than the selected general instrument, first size-specific instrument, and patient-specific instrument. The method further includes preparing a surgeon instrument kit containing the set of surgical instruments in sterilized form.
