摘要: An inventory management system provided by an inventory management service provider senses removal of medical items from inventory to be dispensed to a patient. The system processes billing information to identify the patient's medical insurance provider, to identify a medical item supplier that is the preferred biller for the patient's medical insurance provider, and to determine whether the inventory management service provider is the identified preferred biller. If the inventory management service provider is the preferred biller, the system generates an invoice from the inventory management service provider to bill the patient's medical insurance provider. If the inventory management service provider is not the preferred biller, the system sends the billing information to the medical item supplier identified as the preferred biller, and generates a billing-only invoice directed to the medical item supplier identified as the preferred biller, which invoice is remit to the inventory management service provider.

摘要: An information management system produces a standard bill of resources based on bills of resources that include a list of resources to be utilized in performing a procedure. The system includes a general purpose computer system with storage means, processing means, display means, and input means. Information management software installed on the general purpose computer includes node software objects providing a health care information management function, including a clinical pathway node software object, a case management node software object, and a standardization review node software object. The clinical pathway node software object creates clinical pathway module software objects, including resource software objects and container software objects. The standardization review node software object selects bills of resources from a known universe of bills of resources, and develops models corresponding to the selected bills of resources, where the models include values which correspond to a number of units of given resources from the selected bills of resources. The standardization review node software object mathematically manipulates the models to highlight similarities and dissimilarities of defined characteristics in the models, expresses the manipulated models in a format in which a relative position of each of the manipulated models may be determined, where the relative position of each of the manipulated models reflects the degree of similarity or dissimilarity to the other manipulated models, analyzes the selected bills of resources based upon the expression of the manipulated models, and produces the standard bill of resources based on the analysis of the selected bills of resources.

摘要: A method for integration of the institutional supply chain for medical products utilizing a nested bill of materials on a care event level of a clinical pathway for one or more medical procedures. The medical supplies appropriate for use in a care event are expressed as a bill of materials. Each item of medical supply is assigned a unique identifier which includes at least identification of the item itself, identification of the supplier of the item, and identification of the care event with which the item is to be used. Portions of the supplies are provided by multiple vendors to a unitized container sequencing center where the supplies are bundled by care events and packed into a unitized container. This container is then shipped to a customer or distributor for further shipment to a customer.

摘要: Disclosed is a method for the analysis and standardization of bills of resources to be used during the performance of a given procedure. Bills of resources to be analyzed are converted to models for manipulation. The models are manipulated according to a mathematical algorithm which highlights their relative similarities and dissimilarities. The manipulated models are then expressed in a manner in which the highlighted similarities and dissimilarities are perceptible. Based upon this expression the utilization, consumption, or other characteristic of the bills of resources or the resource listed therein may be analyzed. In one embodiment of the invention, the expression of the manipulated models is utilized to identify groups of similar bills of resources and a standard bill of resources for each group of similar bills of resources is calculated. This standard bill of resources is then substituted for the different bills resources in each defined group.

摘要: A computer system uses requests from a customer to configure custom medical procedural kits (PACKs) ordered by the customer from a service provider. A service provider computer executes a PACK management application which allows a customer to access a list of components of PACKs associated with a customer account. Preferably, the list of components is accessible for display on the customer computer with no need for personnel of the customer to interact with personnel of the service provider. A PACK database stores configuration and pricing information for each PACK associated with the customer account. The system allows a customer to view bills of materials for PACKs and request changes thereto, request vendor price exceptions for various kit components, submit forecast reports reflecting future need for the kits, submit changes to work orders, view current inventory on hand and in manufacturing of kits.

摘要: An inventory management system manages information regarding medical items dispensed in conjunction with medical treatment of a patient at a medical facility. The system includes a first computer, an inventory access control system, inventory sensors, and inventory applications in communication with the first computer. The inventory access control system receives credential information from a user seeking access to a physical inventory space in the medical facility and controls access to the space. The inventory sensors sense the removal of medical items to be dispensed to the patient, and generate item usage information indicating the identity and quantity of the items removed. The inventory applications associate the item usage information with patient information that identifies the patient to which the medical items are dispensed, thereby generating a record indicating that the items removed from the storage structure have been dispensed to the patient identified by the patient information.

摘要: An information management system for tracking and analyzing information relating to medical supply usage on a procedural level in a clinical setting includes a general purpose computer system with storage means, processing means, display means, and input means. Information management software installed on the general purpose computer includes node software objects providing a health care information management function. The node software object includes a clinical pathway node software object, a case management node software object, and a resource utilization tracking node software object. The clinical pathway node software object creates clinical pathway module software objects, including resource software objects and container software objects. The resource utilization tracking node software object performs an analysis to determine supply request and actual usage patterns on a procedural level over a given time period for a particular health care provider, by comparing the issued, consumed, returned, and scrapped amounts, and modifying the provider-specific procedural templates to more fully conform to the actual usage patterns based on the analysis.

摘要: An inventory management system manages information regarding medical items that are stored in storage containers in a storage structure before being dispensed in conjunction with patient medical treatment. The inventory management system includes inventory sensors associated with the storage containers. Each inventory sensor senses removal or addition of medical items to or from the storage containers, and generates corresponding item inventory signals. Inventory indicia devices are disposed on the storage structure, each associated with a corresponding storage container, and each providing a visual indication that a medical item is to be added or removed. A customer computer, which is in communication with the inventory sensors and inventory indicial devices, runs an inventory application for processing item replenishment information to determine a number of medical items to be added to the storage containers, and activates the inventory indicia devices to visually indicate that medical items are to be added.
