Abstract: Communication between a game console having a communication port and a portable device is facilitated by determining that a portable device has been directly connected to the communication port, determining the protocol associated with the portable device, and communicating with the portable device using a driver associated with the determined protocol. An ancillary application may handle the communication between the game console and the portable device while a game or entertainment application executes concurrently on the game console. The game application may execute in a reserved predetermined amount of hardware resources of the game console while the ancillary application may execute concurrently using the remaining hardware resources.

Abstract: A turbine bucket and wheelpost assembly reduces the number of buckets in at least one of the stages of the turbine from 92 to 60 while reducing stresses at the assembly points of the buckets and wheelposts. The buckets and wheelposts being formed with complementary fillets and tangs that provide for the insertion of the bucket into the broach slot between two wheelposts. The angles of the tang surfaces on both the bucket and wheelpost range from 50° to 57°. The upper surface of the wheelpost is scalloped to reduce weight and the tangs and fillets of both the bucket and wheelpost are formed from curved and straight surfaces to reduce stresses on the assembly.

Abstract: A shielded housing that provides a shield to a circuit board connector of the SFP-style includes a conductive body that encompasses the connector. The housing has an opening that defines an entrance of the housing through which an opposing mating connector may be inserted. The housing also includes a pair of engagement tabs that are bent inwardly of the housing at an angle thereto and these tabs engage openings formed in a shell of a plug connector that mates with the SFP-style connector. The tabs rest in the openings and may be released by way of latching mechanism that is part of the plug connector. This mechanism includes a handle and two arms that extend lengthwise. The arms end in cam portions that contact and lift the engagement ends out of the plug connector shell openings to unlatch the plug connector from the SFP-style connector.

Abstract: An electrical open-mouthed oven is provided to heat hollow hair rollers which contain a heat storage material. This material undergoes a change of state as the rollers are heated in the oven. It regains its original state upon cooling with the user''s hair wrapped around the rollers. At least a portion of each roller placed in the oven is adjacent a longitudinal strip heat sink which forms one internal wall of the oven. A graphite coated heating element is secured to the opposite surface of the heat sink and is covered with appropriate insulation. Layers of foam polyester insulation serve as internal oven walls on the opposite side, end and bottom of the oven. The foam insulation is enclosed within a shell which serves as a carrying case for the oven.
