摘要: An apparatus, method, and system for a steerable medical instrument, configured to be used in conjunction with guided tools and devices under robotically controller medical procedures, including endoscopes, cameras, cutting tools and catheters. In one embodiment, the steerable instrument includes an elongate body (100), a control wire (110) arranged in a channel (104) of the elongate body and displaceable along the channel to bend the elongate body; and a controller (320) to selectively control drive forces applied to the control wire (110) under an actively controlled mode and a passively controlled mode. In the actively controlled mode, the controller actively bends at least part of the elongate body. In the passively controlled mode, the controller (320) decreases an amount of strain or an amount of displacement of the control wire, so that the control wire becomes compliant to external forces.

摘要: A system and method for supporting multi-probe guidance are disclosed. The system comprises: a medical guidance apparatus comprising: a rotatable portion which is rotatable around a first axis; an arc guide attached to or integrally formed with the rotatable portion, and a probe holder movably mounted on the arc guide. The probe holder is rotatable around a second axis perpendicular to the first axis by being translated along an arcuate path defined by the shape of the arc guide. In one embodiment, the probe holder includes a plurality of probe channels to guide a corresponding plurality of probes parallel to each other towards a subject. In other embodiment, the probe holder includes a single probe channel which is offset from a center point of the guidance apparatus by a fixed distance such that each probe can be inserted sequentially through a different insertion point without colliding at the center point.

摘要: A sterile bag for covering medical equipment comprises: a barrier section, a flexible body section, and an attaching section. The flexible body section has a tubular shape extending from a proximal end to a distal end thereof, and an outer surface, an inner surface, and an open end. The barrier section is coupled to the proximal end, and the attaching section is formed at the distal end of the flexible body section. The barrier section is a rigid or semirigid component which attaches the sterile bag to a sterile component or to an unsterile component of the medical equipment in a pleaded or folded state. The flexible body section is configured to be deployed over the unsterile component so as to enclose within the inner surface thereof the unsterile component. The unsterile component is connectable to the sterile component through the central opening of the barrier section.

摘要: A method for reproducing a lumen curve to a given tolerance in at least one image in optical coherence tomography (OCT). The method may include obtaining a set of original points of the curve that correspond to measurements from an optical imaging device. Filtering the set of original points using at least one criteria to obtain a subset of original points. The method may also include determining if the subset of original points is less than a predetermined threshold and adjusting the at least one criteria to increase an amount of original points included in the subset of original points when it is determined that the subset of original points is less than the predetermined threshold.

摘要: A method for processing an intravascular image including a plurality of image frames acquired during a pullback of an imaging catheter inserted into a vessel. The method includes obtaining positions of lumen borders detected in the intravascular image and positions of stent-struts detected in the intravascular image. Determining, at different positions in a range, a stent expansion value of the stent implanted in the vessel, based on the first information and the second information, wherein each image frame from image frames in which stent-struts are detected corresponds to a different position along the range. The method may also include displaying an image including positions of lumen borders and positions of the stent-struts detected and a first indicator indicating a level along the range, of the stent expansion value, with the image.

摘要: System and methods for out-of-band pairing sterile medical device with non-sterile devices without compromising sterility thereof. A system includes a sterile medical device; a non-sterile computing device; at least one near field communication (NFC) tag; and a sterile packaging enclosing the sterile medical device. In one example, a sterile percutaneous needle guidance device needs to pair and communicate with a non-sterile computer. The sterile device has an NFC tag embedded in the sterile device and an NFC tag embedded in the sterile packaging. The two NFC tags include identification information duplicate of each other. Before opening the sterile packaging either NFC tag can be scanned with the non-sterile device to initiate wireless pairing. If the sterile package is opened before pairing, the NFC tag contained in the packaging can be brought out of the sterile field and scanned with the non-sterile computer thus preserving the sterility of the sterile device.
