摘要: An electromagnetic system for a magnetic levitation vehicle comprises a "W" shaped magnet core having a center pole wound by a superconducting coil and side poles on opposite sides of the center pole, each wound by an ambient temperature coil. Quasi-dc power is supplied to the central superconducting coil for levitation of the vehicle with respect to a rail along which the vehicle is meant to move. The ambient temperature coils are connected in series to each and other and powered with ac power for trimming and controlling the gap between the magnet and the rail.

摘要: A method for testing layering processes of integrated circuit construction for random defects. A test structure is employed having a plurality of micro-patterns covering a wafer, the patterns being fabricated in accord with a unit process of an integrated circuit manufacturing operation. The patterns are fabricated either with a lower conductive level covered by an insulative layer and an upper conductive level, all having pads which may be probed at the upper level, or a single conductive layer. By repeating tests in various unit processes, random defects can be isolated to individual unit processes. Nine patterns are disclosed which form a universal test set.

摘要: A control for an electron beam welder for maintaining the point of impact of an electron beam 16 on the intended weld line 6 between two weldments 2 and 4 and for monitoring or controlling the beam area wherein there is provided a strip of 8 and 10 material on each side of the weld line 6 emitting radiation predominantly of a specific wave length when impinged by the electromagnetic radiation produced by the electron beam 6, means 22 are provided for generating an output signal proportional to the difference in radiation emitted by the two strips of material 8 and 10 which is available for controlling the transverse positioning of the electron beam as required to maintain the point of impact along the intended weld line 6. Means 24 is provided for generating an output signal proportional to the sum of the radiation emitted by the two strips of material which is available for monitoring or controlling the area of the electron beam.

摘要: A method of manufacturing a cooling jacket (10) is provided whereby a relatively thin-walled outer jacket formed as a cylinder (14') is press-fit over an inner casing (12) and the outer jacket (14') is then electron-beam welded to the inner casing (12) to set up a spiral weld (28) along the length of the cylinder (14'). The inner casing (12) has an inlet (18) and an outlet (20) hole located at opposite ends thereof which is aligned with the cylinder (14') during the pressing of the cylinder (14') onto the inner casing (12). The spiral-welded cylinder (14') is then pressurized through the inlet (18) with the outlet (20) being blocked to thereby expand the cylinder (14') between the spiral welds (28) into a series of semicircular passageways (16) for allowing cooling fluid flow.
