A surgical tool having an elongate shaft, with a directional operative element at its distal end, is provided with a mechanism to rotate the shaft and the operative element about a longitudinal axis shaft. This allows the operative element to be aligned with an element of tissue without excessive hand movement by the user. In a preferred version, the mechanism is electrically powered and is regulated to produce smooth, controlled, accurate motion between selected rotational positions. The mechanism may include a linear magnetic motor drive to move a drive element longitudinally along the tool. This drive element is engaged with a helical formation on a drive shaft, such that longitudinal motion of the drive element is converted to rotational motion of the drive shaft, and of the shaft and operative element, to which the shaft is mounted.

A system and method for testing wireless devices in a simulated a wireless environment is provided. RF modules for creating and receiving RF signals in a test environment are also provided. Features include RF isolation of a wireless device, including filtering signals on electrical paths to and from the device, and circuits to reduce undesired RF signals on such electrical paths, for example PCI bus paths. The system and method also include a test enclosure with isolation chambers with filtered electrical signal paths to allow testing of wireless devices inserted into the isolation chambers. This system and method also allows controlled testing of antennae diversity features of the wireless device.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a secondary lens between the display lens and the vacuum florescent display. Both the lenses have an index of refraction greater than 1 which results in a momentary change in the viewing angle while the light passes through each lens. Since two lenses are used, the overall effective lens thickness for effective light shifting is increased while the cross sectional thickness of each lens remains uniform. Preferably, each lens is made of a polycarbonate material and has an index of refraction of 1.59. In another aspect of the present invention, the display lens is constructed of a smoke material and the secondary lens is clear.

Rocker buttons for devices such as automotive audio systems are mounted in escutcheons of the audio systems by using rocker frame members. Light dams, unitary with the rocker frame members shield LEDs used to illuminate indicia in the rocker buttons so that the light is not transmitted through gaps between the rocker buttons and the edges of openings through the escutcheons which receive the rocker buttons. Trunions extend laterally from the rocker buttons and are received within bearings formed by grooves in the escutcheons. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, the rocker frames retain trunions in the bearings and in accordance with another embodiment of the invention peripheral display lenses overlie the trunions to hold the trunions in the bearings.

A bias offset voltage circuit for controlling one or more devices is disclosed. The bias offset voltage circuit includes a three voltage sources connected in series and a switching element. Each voltage source includes a positive terminal and a negative terminal. The switching element includes a positive input terminal, a negative input terminal, and an output terminal. The negative terminal of the first voltage source is connected to the negative input terminal. The positive terminal of the third voltage source is connected to the positive input terminal. The terminals of the second voltage source are used to drive a first device. The output terminal of the switching element drives a second device. The bias offset voltage circuit may be used to provide proper voltages to each of the devices where the higher-supplied voltage could damage the device supplied with the lower supplied voltage, or vice versa.
