摘要: The invention involves a system and method for quickly retracting a tool from a surgical site. The system is generally constructed and arranged for attachment to a robotic arm for manipulation of the tool to perform an in-vivo surgery. The tool is constructed to retract from the surgical site upon a predetermined condition. The system and the robot can be reset when the condition has cleared so that the surgery can continue.

摘要: A surgical system includes a protective cover, an ultrasound device, and a surgical device. The protective cover includes a body configured to receive at least a portion of an ultrasound device through an open proximal end and into the interior volume of the body. A coupling assembly includes an inner coupler disposed within the interior volume of the body on an interior surface of the body and an outer coupler disposed on an exterior surface of the body. The inner coupler is configured to couple to the ultrasound device and the outer coupler is configured to couple to the surgical device to thereby constrain the ultrasound device and the surgical device in at least one degree of freedom while permitting movement of the surgical device relative to the ultrasound device in at least one other degree of freedom.

摘要: A portable and passive safety intraosseous device to allow for direct introduction of medications, etc., within the intermedullary space of a subject patient's bone or, if needed, the removal of certain substances from such a subject patient's bone. Such a device permits direct drilling and placement of a cannula within the subject bone with access external to the subject patient's skin, permitting, as well, connection of a tube for such introduction/removal purposes. The ability to provide a passive safety unit allows for facilitated utilization in, for instance, emergency situations with the entire device provided for utilization thereof. The device includes a drilling component with a permanently attached stylet and a removable cannula, a power supply for a single drilling operation, a mechanism to draw the stylet back into the drill component after use and disengagement from the cannula, and an automatic closure that activates with the separation of the cannula.

摘要: A surgical stapling instrument (10) includes anvil and cartridge portions (100, 200) operably coupled together. The anvil and cartridge portions (100, 200) are transitionable between clamped and unclamped configurations. The surgical stapling instrument (10) also includes a clamp detection assembly (300) with a plunger (312) slidably disposed in a chamber (310) of a housing (302), a block (314) with an aperture (316) attached to the plunger (312), a spring (318) disposed in the chamber (310), and a button (340) slidably disposed in a recess (180) of the anvil portion (100). The spring (318) biases the plunger (312) and block (314) towards the cartridge portion (200) such that the aperture (316) is out of alignment with the button (340) in the unclamped configuration and engagement of the plunger (312) with a bridge (254) of the cartridge portion (200) translates the plunger (312) and the block (314) away from the opening of the chamber (310) such that the aperture (316) is aligned with the button (340) in the clamped configuration.

摘要: Described herein is a method for treating a narrowed region of a lumen in the ear or nose of a patient. The method includes advancing a catheter within the lumen such that a distal end of the catheter is positioned proximate to the narrowed region, filling a fillable member to expand the fillable member within the lumen, and generating at least one shock wave from at least one shock wave emitter. The at least one shock wave creates one or more fractures in a bony structure of the narrowed region of the lumen that dilate the narrowed region.

摘要: An instrument sterile adapter for coupling a surgical instrument and an instrument carriage includes an adapter control surface that extends control features of a control surface of the instrument carriage and receives an instrument control surface of the surgical instrument. A shaft receiving slot is positioned in the adapter control surface to receive an elongate tube of the surgical instrument when the adapter control surface receives the instrument control surface of the surgical instrument. The elongate tube may couple a proximal control mechanism of the surgical instrument to an end effector. The instrument sterile adapter may include a convex curved surface substantially perpendicular to and facing the adapter control surface to receive a corresponding concave curved surface on the instrument control surface. A bullet portion on the convex curved surface may engage a bullet receiving feature in the corresponding concave curved surface on the instrument control surface.

The methods and systems described may be used to modulate (e.g., denervate, ablate) articular branch nerves of, for example, cranial gluteal, femoral, sciatic, and/or obturator nerves, the sensory and/or motor nerves themselves, and/or other nerves innervating a joint. The modulation of these nerves may facilitate treatment of chronic joint pain (e.g., hip) and lameness (e.g., osteoarthritis (OA), degenerative joint disease (DJD), etc.). The modulation may be performed using a neuromodulation device (e.g., an energy delivery device). The device may use bipolar radiofrequency energy to form a linear or arcuate lesion. The lesion may follow curvature of bone, for example in a joint capsule.

摘要: An image processing apparatus and an image processing method, according to the present invention, may sense an identifier positioned in a tip to identify unique information such as a serial number of the tip, and may update tip use information assigned to the identified unique information. In some cases, in connection with updating the tip use information, the use information may also be selectively updated based on the type of a scan target to be scanned. Alternatively, a scanning operation of the image processing apparatus may be restricted when a predetermined elapsed time from the removal to the mounting of the tip after scanning an oral cavity is not ensured. Due to the above-mentioned configuration, a user can conveniently recognize when to replace the tip.
