摘要: An apparatus for mixing bone cement for use in orthopedic surgeries includes a mixing region and an agitator for mixing the cement ingredients. The apparatus can be operated or acted on by a power tool for the mixing of the bone cement. The agitator may act as a generator to charge embedded electronics of the apparatus such as with a magnet in the agitator that interacts with a wire coil outside of the agitator. A timer of the apparatus may be started by a sensor of the apparatus, in response to a mechanical torque value, or by a magnetic sensor that can sense a start state of the apparatus. When the timer is complete, a cue by the apparatus signals to the user that the mixed cement is ready and able to be applied.

摘要: A fastener driving apparatus comprises a gas spring or spring, a drive mechanism, an anvil assembly, and an anvil. The drive mechanism permits transition from engagement with the gas spring, spring or anvil assembly to disengagement from the gas spring, spring or anvil assembly. The anvil and/or anvil assembly are operatively coupled to the gas spring or spring such that after the drive mechanism disengages them, the gas spring piston or the spring moves to imparts a force on the anvil to cause the anvil to move and drive a fastener. The mass of the anvil assembly is preferably greater than 50% of the total mass of the anvil assembly and gas spring moving mass. The gas spring is configured such that the pressure increase during the movement of the gas spring piston by the drive mechanism is less than 30% of the initial pressure in the gas spring.

摘要: A fastener driving apparatus includes a vacuum piston and a drive piston, which vacuum piston, when moved (by way of a motor and linear motion converter), draws a vacuum against the drive piston, which drive piston may be held in place by retention means. An anvil is coupled to the drive piston. The retention means is released electrically or mechanically at or near the point of maximum vacuum volume. This drive piston and anvil assembly is then driven by atmospheric pressure and may strike a fastener to drive it into a substrate. At least one position sensor may be used. Once the fastener is driven, the apparatus may reset to an initial position. At least one parasitic loss seal may be provided to reduce drag force on the drive piston, and a timed dwell may be provided for the vacuum piston for operation.

摘要: An orthopedic impacting tool comprises a motor, a linear motion converter, an air chamber, a compression piston, an impacting element, an anvil element, and a broach adapter. The compression piston may cause the impacting element to apply controlled force on a broach adapter to create a precise opening for subsequently disposing a prosthesis in a patient. The tool may further comprise a detent for holding the impacting element in a position until a sufficient pressure is applied to release the impacting element. The tool allows forward or backward impacting for expanding the size or volume of the opening or for facilitating removal of the broach and tool from the opening. A force adjustment control of the tool allows a user to increase or decrease the impact force. A light source and hand grips improve ease of operation of the tool.

摘要: A fastener driving apparatus includes a power source, a control circuit, a motor, a first cylinder, a first piston, a linear motion converter, a second cylinder, a second piston, an anvil, a retention element retaining a component of the apparatus, and at least one sensor. During a compression stroke, the first piston compresses gas in a first cylinder to a predetermined pressure. Compressed gas is communicated to the second cylinder and the retention force of the retention element is overcome, to release the retained component of the apparatus, thereby causing the second piston to move linearly and enabling the anvil to drive the fastener into the workpiece. During a return stroke of the first piston, a vacuum created in the first cylinder is communicated to the second cylinder, causing the second piston and the anvil to retract to their initial positions.

摘要: Disclosed is a projectile launching apparatus capable of launching a projectile, such as a pellet, a BB, an arrow, a dart and a paintball. The projectile launching apparatus includes a motor driven linear motion converter, a cylinder, a breech assembly and a compression valve arrangement. The linear motion converter converts a rotational movement of a motor into a linear movement of a piston by a gear reduction mechanism. The linear movement of the piston within the cylinder compresses a gas with a high compression exponent. The compressed gas is further released into a barrel of the breech assembly through the compression valve arrangement. The compressed gas expands in the barrel causing a projectile to be launched from the barrel with a force of the compressed gas.

摘要: A portable electric motor driven air gun powered by a power source. The motor is coupled to a lead screw, which drives a piston. The piston compresses air in a chamber producing high-pressure air. When sufficient energy is stored within the air stream by the piston a valve opens which releases the air to act on the projectile. The compressed air is used to push a projectile such as a paintball, an airsoft ball, a “bb”, or a pellet through a barrel. The lead screw is then reversed and the piston is reset for the next shot. The piston is preferably coupled to a feeding mechanism to facilitate positioning of the projectile for firing. The direction speed and operative modes of the gun are preferably controlled with an electric circuit. The power source is preferably rechargeable and allows the air gun to be operated completely independent from either a wall outlet or a compressed air supply.

摘要: A rotary impactor for orthopedic surgery includes an output anvil and a hammer that is capable of imparting linear and rotary force on the anvil. The anvil may be moveable on a leadscrew element to alternately generate energy in an energy storage means and to move along the leadscrew element to impact the anvil. A viscoelastic mechanism or a dampening mechanism is used to reduce the reflected force and or torque during operation of the rotary impactor. High frequency linear impacts by the impactor obviate the need for a surgeon to provide an external push force on the impactor in order to perform a successful surgical operation.
