    摘要: A method for providing an adherent, continuous, conformal, non-particulate coating of a compound of a metal or metalloid on the surface of individual phosphor particles. The method involves wetting each of the individual particles with a polymer solution including a polymer in a solvent base, the polymer being capable of chelating ions of the metal or metalloid. The particles then are dried to produce a continuous coating of the polymer on each of the individual particles. The polymer-coated phosphor particles are suspended in a solution containing ions of the metal or metalloid and having a pH of at least 9 to produce chelation of the metal or metalloid ions by the polymer coating, to produce the adherent, continuous, conformal, non-particulate, metal- or metalloid-compound coating on the particle surfaces. Also described are a method for improving lumen maintenance of a lamp, a coated phosphor powder, and a phosphor-coating composition for coating an inner surface of a lamp envelope.

    摘要: An electroluminescent lamp having a high color rendering index (CRI) can be made using a phosphor blend comprising a mixture of an electroluminescent phosphor and an europium-activated alkaline earth silicon nitride phosphor, wherein the electroluminescent phosphor is selected from a blue-emitting electroluminescent phosphor, a blue-green-emitting electroluminescent phosphor, or a combination thereof. Preferably, the lamp exhibits a CRI of at least about 75, and, more preferably, at least about 80. A preferred blend contains from about 10% to about 20% by weight of the europium-activated alkaline earth silicon nitride phosphor.

    摘要: A phosphor blend for a compact fluorescent lamp is described wherein the phosphor blend comprises a green-emitting Tb3+ phosphor, a Y2O3:Eu3+ phosphor, a Sr6BP5O20:Eu2+ phosphor, a Mg4GeO5.5F:Mn4+ phosphor, and optionally a BaMgAl11O17:Eu2+ phosphor, wherein the blend contains from 1% to 20% by weight of the Sr6BP5O20:Eu2+hosphor and from 5% to 30% by weight of the Mg4GeO5.5F:Mn4+phosphor. A compact fluorescent lamp having a phosphor coating containing the phosphor blend produces a light that is perceived as more pleasing than the light produced by standard compact fluorescent lamps.

    摘要: A lamp envelope is provided with an alumina layer and a multilayer phosphor coating on the alumina layer. The phosphor coating includes a top phosphor layer with a first weight percent of rare earth activators and a middle phosphor layer with a second weight percent of rare earth activators. The second weight percent is less than the first weight percent so that a total amount of the activators in the coating is reduced while maintaining a required lamp brightness and color rendering index (CRI). Preferably, the second weight percent is about 50-60% of the first weight percent and the middle layer is about 30-50% of a total weight of the coating so that a total weight of the activators in the coating is no more than about 80% of a weight of the activators in the coating if the first and second weight percents were the same.
