    摘要: A lancing device comprises a main housing, a movable housing and a pushbutton. The main housing encloses a portion of a lancing mechanism. The lancing mechanism includes a lancet holder attached to a shaft. The lancet holder receives a lancet and has a slot formed therein. The lancing mechanism moves between a rest position, a cocked position, and a puncture position. The movable housing is adjacent to the main housing. The movable housing moves from a rest position to a cocking position and a lancet-release position. The pushbutton allows the lancing mechanism to move from the cocked position to the puncture position upon depression of the pushbutton. The pushbutton includes a lancet-release tab that extends into the slot formed in the lancet holder and engages the lancet. The lancet is released from the lancet holder in response to the continued depression of the pushbutton and the movable housing is moved from the rest position to the lancet-release position.

The blood sampling device (10) includes an actuator mechanism for causing the lancet (32) to move from the retracted position to the extended position and an attachment mechanism for allowing the end cap (60) to be securely attached to the housing (12) by moving the end cap (60) in a direction parallel to the lancing direction from a removed position in which the end cap (60) is separated from the housing (12) to a secured position in which the end cap (60) is securely attached to the housing (12) and a mechanism for adjusting the puncture depth of the lancet (32).

    摘要: The present invention is a lancing device with an automatic cocking feature. The automatically cocking lancing device utilizes a firing burton loaded with a firing button spring and a drive spring connecting the firing button to a plunger. As the user presses the firing burton and compresses the firing burton spring, the user also moves the plunger until the plunger engages a latching mechanism. The latching mechanism holds the plunger in a latched position, and, as the user continues pressing the firing button, the user compresses the drive spring connected to the plunger. Before firing, the drive spring is compressed enough such that the biasing force of the drive spring is sufficient to cause the plunger to strike and drive a lancet into the user's finger. At that point, the pressing of the firing button causes the lancing device to fife. The plunger unlatches and drives the lancet into the user's finger under the biasing force of the drive spring. At firing, the firing burton spring is compressed, and, once the user releases the firing button, the firing button spring returns the plunger and the firing button to the cocked position under the biasing force of the firing burton spring.

    摘要: A disposable cartridge adapted to be used with a sensor-dispensing instrument comprises a housing, test sensors, a mechanical mechanism and moveable seals. The housing forms at least one opening therethrough. The test sensors are stacked in the housing. The test sensors are adapted to assist in testing at least one analyte. The mechanical mechanism is adapted to urge the test sensors in a first direction. One of the test sensors is positioned for ejection from the cartridge. The moveable seals is adapted to be in a closed position that seals the at least one opening so as to provide a substantially moisture-proof and a substantially air-tight cartridge, and one of the moveable seals is adapted to be in an open position that allows one of the test sensors to be moved therethrough.

    摘要: An adjustable endcap for a lancing device includes a basecap and a twistcap. The basecap includes a post with detents thereon. At least one finger is provided on the basecap adjacent the post. The twistcap includes at least one helical track on its outer surface into which the finger extends when the twistcap is mounted on the post. The twistcap also includes a plurality of grooves on an inner surface for engagement with the detents. As the twistcap is rotated on the post, the interaction of the finger and track causes the twistcap to move toward and away from the basecap and to adjust the penetration depth of a lance reciprocally mounted in the lancing device.

    摘要: A vacuum assisted lancing device (10) for obtaining capillary blood from body sites includes a plunger (12) mounted in a barrel or upper housing (24) that upon being pressed by a user, drives a lancet (18) to puncture skin at a body site. A vacuum member such as a diaphragm (38, 66) or bellows (66) is displaced by the plunger (12) and displaces air in the lancing device (10) to create a vacuum. The vacuum draws skin partially into the lancing device (10) causing blood to form at the puncture. The vacuum is then released and the blood is tested.
