摘要: A computer-implemented method receives, into a computerized system, routine electronic transmissions such as a clinician order entry (CPOE) order message relating to a patient. The order message is used to identify one of a number of pre-established templates to create an individualized wellness plan. The method identifies data variables that need to be supplied for the wellness plan and identifies patient documentation related to the wellness plan. The method supplies the data variables and combines patient documentation into the wellness plan. The method identifies and includes dependency-awareness of tasks, reminders, and appointments within and across wellness plans. The method can customize the wellness plan according to clinician preferences and patient preferences, and can restrict access and content of the wellness plan. The method provides the wellness plan to the patient through their preferred interactive calendar application and obtains the remaining data variables, performs across plan dependency checks, and obtains the patient preferences from the patient through the interactive calendar application. This allows the method to provide the patient a list of tasks, reminders, and appointments through the interactive calendar application and enables both clinician and patient to track plan progress and completion.

摘要: A system and method of automating and managing bids within the context of an Internet auction is disclosed. The present invention permits continuous monitoring and verification of auctions on the Internet based on criterion such as highest bid on an item, maximum permissible bid, and a restriction on the number of successful bids in the auctions by any given participant (0109). The present invention permits embodiments incorporating an auction profile database (0101) that is generated by an auction profile configuration tool (0102) to act as input to an item search manager (0104) that takes data from an item database (0105) and control from an item selector (0103) to then interact with an auction bid controller (0106) that communicates with the remote auction site via an auction command interface (0107).

摘要: A method and system for providing personal and emergency service hailing. A profile database stores profiles with individualized distance thresholds for each of a number of wireless devices. A wireless message proximity request is received from a requesting wireless device. Distances between a location of the requesting wireless device and locations of each of other wireless communications devices is computed and compared to individualized distance thresholds stored for the requesting wireless communications device. A set of wireless devices consisting of wireless devices that satisfy the individualized distance thresholds for the requesting wireless communications device is identified and a wireless message proximity response is sent to the requesting wireless communications device. The wireless message proximity response identifies the set of wireless communications devices that satisfy the at least one individualized distance threshold.

摘要: A redundant array of independent data storage libraries of dismountable media units includes parity logging and unique parity update reintegration techniques to improve system performance by reducing the number of media mounts. The media units are arranged into redundancy groups that store the data as sets or parity groups of data blocks and a corresponding parity block. When new data is to be written parity updates are computed and stored in a parity log in nonvolatile storage, such as a magnetic fixed disk drive. The new data blocks are then written onto the media units, but the corresponding new parity blocks are not written if the media units containing the old parity blocks are not mounted at the time the parity updates are computed. If a media unit containing an old parity block is already mounted at the time the parity update is computed, then a new parity block is computed based on the parity update and the new parity block is written to the media unit without logging the parity update. When the media unit containing the old parity block is later mounted on a drive for doing a read or write operation, then the parity update is retrieved from the parity log and the new parity block computed and written to that media unit. The reintegration of parity updates is enhanced by parity pursuit striping wherein successive striping increments of data blocks are mapped across the media units such that a striping increment is located on the same media unit that contains the parity block corresponding to the prior striping increment.

摘要: A record media (optical disk) automatic library (back store) houses a plurality of record media for selective mounting in any one of a plurality of media drives (front store). Each record medium has one or more addressable recording surfaces termed data units. Record media currently mounted in said media drives may be replaced by other record media (demounted) only if the individual data unit has been idle (not accessed) for a time longer than a predetermined horizon time (demount eligibility threshold). If the current idle times for all mounted media are less than the respective horizon times, then no media can be demounted. Then, all proposed record media mounts are delayed until one of the currently mounted record media becomes eligible for demounting. If a plurality of mounted record media are eligible for demounting, then a least recently used one of the data units is demounted. The idle time of each mounted data unit is separately timed.

摘要: A method, system and program storage device are provided for interjecting messages into a real-time isochronous discourse (such as a telephone call) between a plurality of callers wherein the method, system and device accesses the call between the callers, monitors the discourse to determine if the discourse relates to a system message desired to be communicated to the caller, chooses and communicates the system message to the callers when the discourse is determined to be relevant to the system message and continues the above accessing, monitoring and communicating steps until the call being accessed between the callers is terminated. The interjected messages are primarily related to advertising and can be introduced to one or more callers, or, separate messages in different languages can be introduced to one or more callers depending on the caller's accessing the telephone. Caller subscribers of the system will typically have the cost of the call partly or totally subsidized by the method and system.

摘要: A data storage library system, preferably arranged in an array of independent libraries, uses a log-structured file (LSF) data architecture and assigned roles for the individual storage devices in the library. Each library includes a plurality of storage devices, such as optical disk drives, and a store of removable media units, such as optical disks, that are mounted and dismounted from the storage devices. The log-structured library is similar to fixed media systems having LSF data architectures in that it employs a directory to map the local address of a data set to its physical storage location, but is different in that it divides the jobs of reading and writing (log accesses) and garbage collection among the different storage devices of the library. As required, the dismountable media units are moved from the storage area and mounted on a device assigned the appropriate role. The roles assigned to the storage devices are flexible and can change as needed. The system allows both log accesses and garbage collection to occur simultaneously. The garbage collection process segregates the data into "hot" and "cold" segments, according to the age of the data. This allows all the cold data to be located on the same media units, which can then be exported from the library for off-line storage and replacement with new media units.

摘要: Attractive heat sinks are used to cool the central processing unit and other solid state electronic components in electronic devices such as computers. In preferred embodiments, heat sinks snap onto one or both sides of a laptop computer to provide cooling. The heat sinks may consist of one or more sealed tubes of various cross sections containing a fluid mixture or solution. Preferred embodiments of the heat sinks rely on the principle of Rayleigh-Benard convection to provide a visually attractive “bubble lamp” display, “glitter lamp” display, or other convective fluid lamp display.
