摘要: A plastic container for multiple side-by-side stacks of fragile articles has a single blow molded body. The body has side walls and at least one internal partition extending from near a continuously rimmed open top to near a closed bottom end of the body. The partition has two spaced apart walls connected in a longitudinal plane substantially perpendicular to said at least one partition. The partition forms at least two separated compartments within the body for supporting the stacks of fragile articles. It provides resistance to squeezing the side walls so as to protect the stacks of fragile articles, and the two spaced apart walls are adapted to deform in the presence of vacuum and pressure in the compartments such that an outer perimeter dimension of the body remains substantially constant. The container also has a reclosable closure located at the continuously rimmed top end of the body.

摘要: A self-expanding flexible pouch that can be used as the measuring device for reconstituting a concentrated product contained therein. The pouch includes an improved one-piece extensible stay located in the throat area of the flexible pouch that is biased toward a relaxed, expanded, circular configuration but is initially held substantially flat in a stressed condition by the sealed top portion of the pouch. When the top portion of the pouch is removed, the improved stay expands to its relaxed, expanded configuration and thereby expands and opens the throat area of the pouch. The improved stay comprises a one-piece, continuous extensible loop having a pair of opposed hinges. The hinges are thinner in thickness than the remaining portions of the loop and aligned with the side peripheral edges of the pouch. Two opposed thick-walled sections are located between the opposed hinges. The opposed thick-walled sections provide the automatic opening force for the pouch. The thick-walled sections are substantially aligned with and secured in fixed relation to the front and back sidewall panels of the pouch. Two ribs are located on said opposed thick-walled sections to prevent the stay from sticking together. Four thin-walled transition sections are preferably employed to connect the hinges to the thick-walled sections to form the loop. The thin-walled transition sections are thinner in thickness than the thick-walled sections.

摘要: The present invention pertains to improved closure arrangements which are durable in construction, yet easy to open and reclose, and which provide an initial hermetic seal with tamper evidency, all utilizing a one-piece lid design. In two embodiments according to the present invention, unique combinations of a mechanical interlocking closure system, heat-sealing or bonding, and a weakened failure zone are employed in the vicinity of the lid/container juncture to achieve these desirable characteristics. In a third embodiment of the present invention, a mechanical interlocking and sealing arrangement is utilized to achieve hermetic sealing of the container without the need for a heat seal or bonded region, and a weakened failure zone is located just inward of the mechanical interlocking connection. With all embodiments according to the present invention, upon tearing the lid open the lid forms a recloseable plug-fit closure to reclose the container, while the rim of the lid once remains attached to the container in its initial position. The resulting container is extraordinarily simple in construction, rendering it easy and cost effective to produce, yet providing superior performance both in maintaining the initial freshness of the product and in providing ease of consumer operation.

摘要: A squeezebottle dispenser having an inner flexible bag containing a viscous fluid in fluid communication with a dispensing nozzle. A vent hole is provided in the squeezebottle side wall which is blocked by the user to prevent air from exiting the squeezebottle during squeezing so that air compression within the squeezebottle forces the inner bag to discharge its contents through the dispensing nozzle. When the squeezebottle is released, the vent hole is unblocked in order to vent air into the squeezebottle so that the squeezebottle may return to its unsqueezed shape. The vented air entering an air space located between the squeezebottle and the inner bag replaces the volume of the contents discharged from the inner bag. The addition of a recessed channel, formed between the vent hole and a venting point, which is covered with a compliant film to form an air passage, enables the user to block the vent hole indirectly. When the compliant film is pressed into and against the recessed channel anywhere along the air passage, air cannot escape from inside the squeezebottle, thereby enabling air compression to occur inside the squeezebottle.

摘要: A shelf-stable device for transdermally administering an active pharmaceutical to a patient. The device includes a drug reservoir that contains the drug formulation. In one preferred embodiment of the present invention, the drug reservoir is sandwiched between an upper and a lower solvent barrier film that are made from a material such as a polyester that will not absorb the drug and/or skin permeating enhancing solvent, if any, contained within the reservoir. The drug reservoir and solvent barrier films are encapsulated within a hermetically-sealed compartment that protects the drug formulation from common environmental factors such as water vapor, oxygen, and light which can adversely affect the stability and efficacy of the drug formulation. The hermetically-sealed compartment also prevents the drug formulation from coming into contact with and possibly dissolving the adhesive used to secure the device to the patients's skin. In another particularly preferred embodiment of the present invention, the device's drug reservoir is encapsulated within a hermetically-sealed compartment that is made from solvent/environment barrier films that serve the dual functions of preventing the device's components from absorbing the drug/solvent formulation from the reservoir, and protecting the drug/solvent formulation from common environmental factors.

摘要: A package containing a particulate product under pressure which automatically releases the pressure upon opening with an ordinary can opener, while preventing escape of the particulate material. The package is made up of a container having a closed top and a closed bottom which are connected to a body portion to define a gas tight interior compartment. The container has an inwardly directed bead along the perimeter of the body of the container located at a predetermined distance from the top. A non-porous product separator is placed within the container above the bead so that its perimeter is adjacent to the perimeter of the body of the container. The separator divides the interior compartment into a product chamber, below the separator, and a product free chamber above the separator. The distance from the bead to the top of the container is such that rocking of the separator with respect to the vertical axis of the container is prevented to the extent that the particulate product is prevented from migrating around the separator and into the product-free chamber before and during opening.
