摘要: A switchover valve for switching over from one supply of pressure fluid to another supply thereof in response to failing or failure of the one supply. The valve has a valve body having two inlets for connection thereto of the respective pressure fluid supplies and an outlet. A valve member is movable in the valve body between a position establishing communication for delivery of fluid from one inlet to the outlet and blocking flow from the other inlet to the outlet and a position establishing communication for delivery of fluid from the other inlet to the outlet and blocking flow from the one inlet to the outlet. The valve member is subject to pressure of fluid supplied to the one inlet for moving it from the first-mentioned position to the second-mentioned position and to pressure of fluid supplied to the other inlet for moving it from the second-mentioned position to the first-mentioned position. A latch for latching the valve member in one or the other of its positions is movable between a latching position engaging the valve member and a retracted position clearing the valve member for movement. The latch is biased toward the retracted position and is held in latching position against the bias by pressure of fluid delivered by the valve member in one or the other of its positions. The latch moves to the retracted position under the bias upon a drop in pressure of fluid delivered by the valve member in either of its positions.

摘要: An improvement in a cutting torch assembly that obviates the tendency to have a flashback and sustained burning immediately adjacent the point of mixing of the fuel with preheat oxygen; including cutting oxygen valve and passageway, preheat oxygen valve and passageway, fuel gas valve and passageway, a head having a tip end for having a tip affixed thereto and having a head passageway for cutting oxygen and a head passageway for the mixture of fuel and oxygen; the improvement being characterized by an integral head mixer having within the head an incoming preheat oxygen passageway and incoming fuel passageway, a mixer disposed within a well in the head and having its central bore aligned with a longitudinally extending passageway in the head and having lateral passageway penetrating through the wall of the mixer and in communication with the fuel annular space of the well, the inlet end of the bore communicating with the preheat oxygen annular space of the well such that the fuel will flow laterally through the walls of the mixer at substantially 90.degree. so as to flow into the oxygen stream and intimately admix therewith. A holder sealingly holds the mixer in the well. Also disclosed is a theory to explain why this elegant and subtle structure is so efficacious.

The improvement comprises an improved regulator in which the poppet includes a centering extension shaft extending to the low pressure side of the valve seat and a larger diameter shaft in communication with the high pressure inlet chamber and having the valve seat include centering upper protrusion that closely engages the centering extension shaft of the poppet with at least three and no more than six slots disposed substantially uniform thereabout such that gas can flow about the valve poppet centering extension shaft through the valves without inducing destructive and noisy vibration when gas flow is called for by the regulator.

摘要: An improved heating torch having the usual fuel and oxygen passageways and valves for controlling the flow of the respective components, mixer for mixing fuel and oxygen, and tip for flowing the admixture exteriorly thereof for burning to heat a work piece or the like, the improvement being characterized by a multiple piece tip that is spring loaded such that one or more internals can be spring loaded to be retained within a shell that is affixed to an end piece of the tip. The end piece fastens to the end of an elbow connected with the mixer, and has the shell disposed about the end piece; and one or more tip internals are disposed inside and biased toward their normal assembled position by a spring or the like. Different sized heating tips are readily formed by simply adding internals and larger sized end pieces and shells to form one or more rings of grooves defined by splines that can be easily manufactured and assembled. In addition, the heating torch tip is amenable to underwriter approval, since it alleviates problems with flashback and burning due to striking of a heating tip against a work piece or other objects during handling.

摘要: A gas cutting torch has a body including an oxygen preheat tube having a first longitudinal axis and a fuel gas preheat tube having a second longitudinal axis. A head is connected to the preheat tubes having an oxygen passage communicating with the oxygen preheat tube, a fuel gas passage communicating with the fuel gas preheat tube, and an outlet for the flow of mixed gases from the torch. A mixing chamber in the head communicates with the oxygen passage and fuel gas passage. The torch has an orifice in the oxygen passage through which oxygen is adapted to flow to the mixing chamber at an increased flow velocity with an accompanying pressure drop. The pressure drop assists in the flow of fuel gas into the mixing chamber for mixture with the oxygen. A diffuser in the head defines a diffuser passage having an inlet region for receiving oxygen and fuel gas from the mixing chamber for flow through the diffuser, and an outlet region for the delivery of oxygen and fuel gas to the outlet of the head. The oxygen passage and the diffuser passage are generally co-axial with the first longitudinal axis of the oxygen preheat tube.
