A SIGNALLING DEVICE FOR INDICATING A PERCENT OF CAPACITY OF A RECORDER-TRANSCRIBER INCLUDES A CAM ACTUATED SIGNAL PRODUCING SWITCH IN WHICH THE CAM IS DRIVEN BY A PIN ATTACHED TO A CAM DRIVER THAT IS COUPLED TO THE DIFFERNTIAL ASSEMBLY. THE PIN MAY BE SEATED IN SLOTS OF VARIOUS LENGTHS. EACH SLOT CORRESPONDS TO A DIFFERENT QUANTITY RECORDER-TRANSCRIBER CAPACITY AND PROVIDES A LOST-MOTION CONNECTION WHEREIN THE SIGNAL GENERATED IS TERMINATED ONLY AFTER THE PIN HAS TRAVERSED THE SLOT.

    摘要: A plurality of central dictation systems are selectively interconnected between a plurality of dictate stations by way of a recorder selector switch and dictate station selector switches. Rotary stepping switches may be used as the selector switches. An off-hook dictate station condition causes a dictate station selector switch of an available recorder to hunt for the off-hook dictate station. After the dictate station is located, the recorder selector switch then hunts for the next available recorder. Another feature is that every other pulse of a rectified standard 60-cycle per second current is utilized, with the pulses spaced by a time interval sufficient to allow the control circuits and mechanical movements in both the switching apparatus and recorder-transcriber to effectively seize an available recorder-transcriber prior to the next pulse. The dictate station energizes a stepping circuit when the headset is raised (off-hook condition) only after a predetermined delay to preclude the stepping circuit from responding to simultaneous off-hook signals from multiple dictate stations. Only a portion of the rectified 60-cycle voltage is utilized in the control circuits so that the maximum voltage capability of the transistor components in the circuits is not exceeded.

    摘要: Apparatus for supporting an index strip in a dictatingtranscribing machine or the like. The apparatus provides a pair of index strip holders, with the dictating-transcribing index marker positioned to move along and over one of the holders. An index strip is placed in this one holder during dictation, and the index marker provides marks on the index strip corresponding to end-of-message or other information supplied by the dictator. When the dictation is completed the index strip is removed from the one holder and is placed in a second holder, either on the dictating machine or on a similar machine used for transcription, and the second holder is positioned to be adjacent the index marker but not to be covered or otherwise obscured by the index marker. Each of the index strip holders has a partially open front for insertion and removal of the index strips, and each of the holders includes an ejection mechanism for removing an index strip therefrom.

    摘要: A control device for controlling the operation of a transcribing machine so that successive transcribing intervals are overlapped by a predetermined amount to facilitate transcription. A circuit is provided for automatically causing the dictation recording medium to move a predetermined amount in a transcribing reverse direction in response to termination of recording medium movement in a transcribing forward direction. The automatic transcribing reverse movement is controlled by a capacitor charging current which occurs when the recording medium stops moving in a transcribing forward direction. The amount of overlap of successive transcribing intervals is proportional to the duration of the capacitor charging current.

    摘要: In a switching system for connecting any one of a number of given lines to any selected one of a large number of available lines, a crossbar switch is used having its hold columns divided into two groups with each given line having assigned to it one hold column of each group. In the making of a selection, one hold column assigned to a given line selects a group of available lines, from the total of such lines, and connects the selected group to the other hold column assigned to the given line. The other hold column is then used to select an individual available line from the selected group. Preferably, the crossbar switch is so wired that both of the two hold columns assigned to a given line actually make both a group selection and an individual selection and a separate two-position auxiliary switch is used to select from the two individual available lines selected by the two hold columns.

    摘要: A control means for controlling the operation of a recording device having a plurality of modes of operation in response to a plurality of control currents. The control means provides for control of the recording device from one or more operating stations and the control means includes a plurality of current means for providing a plurality of control currents in response to a plurality of potential differences between a plurality of first voltages provided by a circuit means and a variable second voltage provided by a selecting means. The variable second voltage is selectively varied at the recording device from an operating station with substantially no flow of current between the recording device and the operating station and with a minimum number of wires required between the recording device and the operating station. Thus, the control means is reliable because it is independent of fluctuations of current between a recording device and an operating station and is relatively inexpensive because of the small number of wires required between a recording device and an operating station.
