    摘要: A method and apparatus for forming rivet joints with a desired amount of clearance to allow pivotal motion of the parts interconnected by such joints. Parts to be riveted together are aligned with each other, and a rivet is placed into aligned holes. A parts clamp urges the parts and a preformed head of the rivet against a rivet support anvil to establish an initial condition. A parts support anvil is placed in a required position with respect to the rivet support anvil prior to formation of the second head on the opposite end of the rivet, to provide the desired amount of clearance. The parts support anvil is moved by pushing against a set of arched leaf springs to adjust their effective length, using a hydraulic motor controlled in response to an electrical signal from a transducer that measures movement of parts by the parts support anvil.

    摘要: A fluid dispensing valve used for printing and marking, having a valve body with an end wall which defines an aperture and a spring biased valve element disposed within the valve body to open and close the aperture. A spring element is coupled to the tubular body adjacent the circular wall, the spring element and the wall defining a chamber for receiving a fluid metered through the aperture of the valve body when the aperture is opened, the spring element having at least one aperture communicating with the chamber. A porous member is affixed to the spring element such that the porous member covers the aperture in the spring element. The porous member transfers the fluid received in the chamber to a surface in the form of a printed geometric image. In operation, a printing force applied to the porous member causes the spring element to compress and engage the portion of the valve element thereby pushing a portion of the valve element partially back through the aperture in the open position to allow the passage of a marking fluid therethrough to the chamber to wet the porous member. The porous member has a predetermined rigidity which substantially prevents the porous member from distorting from its predetermined geometric shape under the printing force. The fluid dispensing valve is typically affixed to the open end of a container which contains the fluid to be dispensed. A removable cap is provided for covering the valve when it is not being used.

    摘要: An on-line system and method provides for monitoring the build up of yarn package diameter which detects winding defects, including missing or gained filaments, in multifilamentary yarn spinning processes. The system and method derive and compare yarn package denier for several yarn packages wound on a common winding apparatus. Diameter ranges are used to divide a yarn package into various measurement zones. Denier measurements are derived for each zone from two on-line, real-time inputs: yarn package speed and time to traverse the specified zone. Comparison of denier for diverse packages being simultaneously wound on one winding apparatus are compare to each other and determined to be within a specified tolerance. The apparatus operator is notified of out of tolerance measurements so that remedial action may be taken. The system also provides for constant and periodic updating of the denier measurement algorithm to account for process variations.
