A tensioner device for applying tension to a flexible fence slat includes a bracket assembly having attachment webs for attachment to a fence post and a pair of vertically spaced, horizontally oriented flanges. A tensioning cylinder is mounted for rotation within a pair of apertures provided, respectively, in the horizontally oriented flanges, the tensioning cylinder formed with a through-slot extending longitudinally between a pair of radial flanges. The through-slot has a length substantially equal to a width of the flexible fence slat and adapted to receive one end of the fence slat. A ratchet wheel is formed at one end of the cylinder, between one of the radial flanges and one of the horizontally oriented flanges, and a pawl is pivotably mounted on the adjacent one of the horizontally oriented flanges for engagement with the ratchet so as to permit rotation of the tensioning cylinder in a tensioning direction but to prevent rotation of the tensioning cylinder in an opposite direction. A finger tab on the pawl facilitates moving the pawl into or out of engagement with the ratchet.

The silver halide emulsion in at least one of the units comprises grains having a tabularity of between about 50 and 25,000. The imaging unit thickness is less than about 4.0 .mu.m, using a total of no more than 2.0 parts by weight of silver per part of coupler. The imaging unit yields a density of at least 2.0 when exposed and processed.

Moderate camera speed photographic elements for producing subtractive primary dye images are disclosed, including one emulsion layer comprised of silver bromide or bromoiodide grains having a mean diameter in the range of from 0.2 to 0.55 .mu.m including tabular grains having an aspect ratio of greater than 8:1 accounting for at least 50 percent of the total projected area of the grains in the emulsion layer and being positioned to receive imaging radiation prior to one or more blue recording emulsion layers. Enhancement of speed-granularity relationships, blue to minus blue speed separation, silver utilization, and image sharpness can all be realized.

A thermal film structure includes at least first and second imaging layers which have different processing characteristics. That is, the first imaging layer is processable at a first temperature while the second imaging layer is processable at a second temperature which is higher than the first temperature. The first and second imaging layers can be coated on or integrated into the film structure. This permits the addition of metadata on the low temperature layer which can be obtained without effecting the development of images on the high temperature layer. Also disclosed is a method for processing the thermal film.

Silver halide emulsions are disclosed in which at least 50 percent of total grain projected area is accounted for by tabular grains (1) bounded by {100} major faces having adjacent edge ratios of less than 10, (2) each having an aspect ratio of at least 2, and (3) internally at their nucleation site containing iodide and at least 50 mole percent chloride. The emulsions are prepared by a process comprised of the steps of (a) introducing silver and halide salts into a dispersing medium so that nucleation of the tabular grains occurs in the presence of iodide with chloride accounting for at least 50 mole percent of the halide present in the dispersing medium and the pCl of the dispersing medium being maintained in the range of from 0.5 to 3.5 and (b) following nucleation completing grain growth under conditions that maintain the {100} major faces of the tabular grains.
