摘要: An improved high speed package printer for producing a plurality of high quality photographs of varying size, shape, and style based on one or a plurality of different film negatives. The improved package printer of the present invention accomplishes the goal of increased throughput and speed through the use of an automatic paper-loading feature, ultrasonic proximity sensors for dynamically measuring paper-slack loops, off-center printing for eliminating the need to advance the paper for punching after each exposure, a rotational prism for creating 10".times.13" photographs without physically rotating the film, a 13-UP lens deck including 12 wallet lenses and a single 5".times.7" retro-focus lens for creating 12 wallet-sized photographs and one 5".times.7" photograph from a single exposure, an automatic diffusion plate cleaner for eliminating the system down time associated with manual diffusion plate cleaning, an improved filtering arrangement for equalizing the amount of energy emitted from each lamp within a photographic lamphouse, and bi-directional film movement for producing a single composite containing a plurality of different images or poses. The high speed package printer of the present invention also boasts an improved film cleaning arrangement for increasing the quality of the prints, as well as penumbra masking for producing photographs having sharply delineated borders.

摘要: A photographic print sorting, conveying and packing mechanism includes a main conveyor line and a plurality of branch conveyor lines with an initial feeding device which receives individual cut prints from a print cutter and feeds the prints into the main conveyor line which defines a main flow path. All of the conveyor lines include a plurality of driver rollers spaced apart less than the length of each cut photograph so that one roller will always be in contact with the prints to maintain positive driving contact with the prints at all times during their successive travel along the conveyor lines. The conveyor lines also include deflecting elements ahead of each roller to flatten momentarily the curl in each print and insure proper driving engagement between the rollers and the print. The branch conveyor lines have their entrances communicating with the flow path of the main conveyor line, the entrances being normally closed by diverting flippers which, when actuated, move into the main flow path to divert previously classified prints into the respective branch conveyor lines in response to classification indicia incorporated in the prints. Print collecting and ejecting stations are provided at the end of the respective conveyor lines, with a positive automatic ejection mechanism provided at the end of said main conveyor line for packing the collected prints into a packaging envelope positioned to receive the prints.

摘要: A photographic packaging system includes a monitoring system which permits the operator to compare frames of the film negative with prints which are being cut so as to assure that the proper prints will be packaged with the corresponding film negatives. The monitoring system includes a television camera and display and a view splitter which is positioned between the television camera and the film negatives. The view splitter splits the field of view of the television camera so that the camera views two separate frames.

摘要: An automatic density control device for photographic printers for sensing and correcting for a "subject failure" in a photographic negative, where the subject area of the negative is out of the optimum density ratio to the background area, which device includes a frusto-pyramidal radiation directing member having its enlarged end proximate to the negative and its small end remote therefrom and being positioned to receive the radiation from a source through the negative and having subject sensing means mounted at the central portion of the enlarged proximate end of said member to sense the radiation passing through the central subject area of the negative and also having background sensing means mounted at the diminished remote end to sense the radiation passing through the marginal portions of the negative and the marginal portions of the enlarged end of said member and including circuitry for comparing the signals produced by said subject sensing means and background sensing means and thus deriving a density signal which is used to control the exposure time during the printing process.

摘要: A stripping and sheet transfer roller assembly particularly constructed for use in sheet film processors and which includes a pair of cylindrical rollers positioned in closely spaced relation for driving individual sheets of film through a dryer and thereafter transfer the same laterally while in substantially upright position into a receiving bin disposed in close association to said rollers, one roller having a plurality of spaced apart soft compressible stripping and transfer elements attached in radially extending relation to the periphery of the rollers and are radially compressed when said sheet passes between said pair of rollers and which expand as said elements rotate out of contact with said sheet, the expansion of said elements stripping the sheet from the stripping roller, said expanded elements then engaging the trailing edge of each stripped sheet to transport said edge laterally and deliver the sheets into said bin in substantially upstanding position in said bin.

The mechanism sequentially seals the sides of the envelopes and cuts the envelopes from the strip.
