    摘要: An annular pressure activated downhole tool has a housing including an outer surface, an inner surface defining a passage, an annular projection projecting into the passage from the inner surface, and an opening. A mandrel extends into the passage. The mandrel has a first end and a second end. A power spring support is detachably connected to the second end of the mandrel in the passage. A power spring is arranged about the mandrel and extends between the power spring support and the annular projection. A trigger housing is arranged in one of the mandrel and the power spring support. A trigger arranged in the trigger housing selectively engages with the inner surface. The trigger is operable to disengage from the inner surface of the housing, releasing the power spring, and shifting the mandrel along the passage when exposed to a selected annular pressure.

    摘要: Magnetic retrieval tools for use in a wellbore or other tubular member to remove metallic debris. A magnetic retrieval tool includes a tool body having a central shaft with a plurality of ribs that project radially outwardly therefrom. The ribs present lateral sides that have recesses formed therein. Magnet bars are retained within the recesses by wedge members and retaining rings. The magnet bars include a hollow protective housing that encloses a plurality of magnets. Retaining plugs are used to secure the magnets within the housing.

    摘要: A circulating sub is run in with the circulating port closed. A dart blocks a central passage and moves two concentric pistons in tandem to open the circulation port while retaining the dart. The outer piston shoulders out in the circulation port open position. A second dart lands on the first and with applied pressure moves the inner piston relative to the shouldered outer piston to close the circulation port and only then discharge both darts. Subs can be used in tandem as long as higher located subs accept larger darts than lower subs and preferably the two darts for each sub are the same size. The ejected darts can be used to pressure actuate a downhole tool like a packer.

    摘要: An earth-boring bit has a bit body and at least one saddle member secured to the bit body to receive and support each of a pair of ends of a journal member. A cutter is mounted for rotation on the journal member and a bearing is defined between the cutter and journal member. A lubricant reservoir is formed in the journal member to receive a quantity of lubricant and is in fluid communication with the bearing. A seal means is provided between the cutter and journal member to retain lubricant in the bearing. A hydrostatic-pressure compensator is disposed in the lubricant reservoir in communication with hydrostatic-pressure in the borehole in which the bit operates. The hydrostatic-pressure compensator responses to hydrostatic-pressure to equalize a pressure differential across the seal means. An internal-pressure compensator is disposed in the lubricant reservoir and is responsive to the internal pressure of the lubricant to prevent the lubricant from being extruded past the seal means.

    摘要: A downhole tool for removing debris from a wellbore comprises a screen member, an incoming fluid accelerator, and a cavity for capturing debris. The incoming fluid accelerator is disposed above the screen and accelerates the flow of an incoming fluid through the accelerator and into a screen bore. The incoming fluid then exits the bottom of the tool, mixes with wellbore fluid containing debris to form a combination fluid that is transported upward within the wellbore annulus. A pressure differential between the incoming fluid flowing within the screen bore and the wellbore annulus pulls the combination fluid containing the debris into the cavity where the debris is captured. Fluid and/or debris not blocked by the screen flows through the screen into the screen bore to be circulated downward and out of the tool where it can pick up additional debris for capture.
