    摘要: An ultrasonic gas measuring device including a housing, walls for the housing, the walls having a gas inlet and a gas outlet provided therethrough, ultrasonic detecting means provided within the housing, the ultrasonic means having a transmitter, operatively associated with one wall of the housing, and a receiver, operatively mounted on another wall of the housing, and arranged at spaced locations within the housing, the housing incorporating gas processing device, electronic circuitry associated with the gas processing device and functioning to detect and generate a signal in cooperation with the ultrasonic detecting means representative of the concentration of the gas passing through the housing, a display operatively associated with the electronic means for displaying data relative to the concentration of gas passing through the measuring device, timer means electrically connected to the electronic means and the display means for first detecting for a short period of time the gas being measured, and then displaying upon the display means data relative to the measured gas for a longer period of time, and adaptor means connecting with the gas concentrating device, and its flow line, for tapping a small quantity of gas for diverting to the measuring device for processing, and then returning said gas to the adaptor and the main gaseous flow line.

    摘要: An oxygen concentrator is disclosed which utilizes two molecular sieves to adsorb nitrogen out of compressed atmospheric air flowing therethrough so as to discharge oxygen enriched air for breathing purposes. Two such molecular sieves are used, one of which is operated in a regenerating mode while the other is operated in its adsorbing mode so a continuous supply of oxygen will be available to the patient. Periodically, the molecular sieves are automatically switched between their adsorbing and regenerating modes in such manner that the molecular sieve operating in its regenerating mode is incipiently recharged with high pressure, high oxygen quality gas prior to switching to its adsorbing mode. A method of operating the oxygen concentrator of this invention is also disclosed.

    摘要: A compressor system is disclosed for the intake of ambient air having a given amount of moisture or water vapor therein. A compressor compresses the ambient air to a superatmospheric pressure level. The pressurized air discharged from the compressor is run through an intercooler so as to reduce both the temperature of the compressed air and the water vapor therein. The reduced water vapor (i.e., dry) air is then supplied to various respiratory health care apparatus and excess dry air is returned to the inlet of the compressor.

    摘要: A flow meter has a body, an inlet operatively connected to a source of gas, and an outlet. A valve for opening and closing the outlet is provided which includes a valve seat, a valve shaft movable axially relative to the valve seat and a valve member on the valve shaft. The valve member movable by axial translation of the valve shaft between a first position in which the valve member engages the valve seat to close the outlet and a second position in which the valve member is spaced from the valve seat to allow gas to pass through said outlet. The flow meter further includes a sensor which senses the position of said valve member relative to said valve seat and generates a signal indicative of said position. In one embodiment, the sensor comprises an infrared light emitter and an infrared photo-detector positioned on opposite sides of the valve member, which is preferably conical. Depending on the axial position of the valve member, the amount of light which reaches the photodetector changes. In another embodiment, the valve shaft is operable connected to a potentiometer which is responsive to the rotational position of the valve shaft, and hence the axial position of the valve member. In a third embodiment, a magnet is placed about the valve shaft, and a magnetic field detector is placed within the magnets magnetic field. The sensor is responsive to the position of the magnet and hence the position of the valve member.

    摘要: A therapeutic gas delivery device includes a monitor having an inlet and an outlet, a source of therapeutic gas in fluid communication with the monitor inlet, and a gas delivery tube in fluid communication with the monitor outlet. The monitor includes a control valve having a normally open port, a normally closed port, and a common port. The common port is connected to the monitor outlet over a gas line and the normally open port and normally closed port are connected to the monitor inlet and atmosphere. The valve is switchable between a first position wherein the therapeutic gas passes through the monitor and a second position wherein atmospheric air or gas passes through the monitor. A flow sensor is placed in the gas line to measure the flow of gas through the second line and produces a signal indicative of the flow of gas through the gas line. A sensor by-pass tube extends around the flow sensor to allow a predetermined portion of the gas to by-pass the flow sensor. A computer is operatively connected to the flow sensor. The computer may be programmed to control the switching of the control valve in response to signals received from the flow sensor.
