摘要:
A sheet conveyor table for delivering sheets from a printing press has upper and lower portions. The lower portion is secured adjacent a delivery unit of the printing press and the upper portion is releasably attached to the lower portion through a swivel joint and catch coupling. An endless conveyor belt is trained about a pair of guide rollers and a tensioning roller on the upper portion for continuous movement imparted by the rotational force of a drive wheel mounted on the lower portion of the table. A guide plate extends substantially parallel and closely adjacent the conveyor path for guiding sheet materials during transfer. A wedge-shaped suction aperture in the guide plate is adapted for communication with a vacuum source, thereby creating a downwardly directed suction force for braking and guiding the sheet materials during transfer. The suction aperture diverges with respect to the direction of travel of the conveyor belt, so as to create a continually increased vacuum force on the sheets during transfer and thereby progressively brake the sheet movement.

An ink metering device for the fountain roller of a printing press including a plurality of ink slides in the ink fountain wherein each slide has a metering element of duct width movable by an adjusting screw which is connected to an adjusting pin and biased by a spring toward the fountain roller to produce a metering gap wherein the spring element is supported between a fixed part of the ink fountain and the metering element and a length-equalizing element is provided permitting transmission of an adjusting movement to the adjusting pin such that the lenth-equalizing action is effective only by overcoming the force of the spring element. In the preferred embodiment, the adjusting pin is rigid with the metering element and the other end is screwed into a length-equalizing coupling connected to a selective drive mechanism with the intermediate portion of the pin being supported for axial movement in a guide block.

A device is disclosed for collecting a liquid which has been separated into at least first and second fractions according to the densities of such fractions. The device comprises a stationary transferring element and a housing for said stationary transferring element. The housing is rotatable about an axis of rotation for the device and the housing and stationary transferring element provide a fluid communication space therebetween for fluid communication between the housing and stationary transferring element. The housing includes first and second outlet passages for passing said first and second separated fractions through the housing to first and second points in the fluid communication space, and the transferring element includes first and second outlet channels for passing the first and second separated fractions from the first and second points in fluid communication space through the transferring element. The first point of communication in the fluid communication space is positioned radially outwardly from the axis of rotation of the device with respect to said second point in said fluid communication space so that when the housing is rotating the separation of the first and second fractions in the fluid communication space is maintained at least partially by centrifugal force.

A rotatable rigid disc for separating a liquid into fractions according to the densities of such fractions is disclosed. The rigid disc includes an inlet for the liquid to be separated; at least two outlets for the separated liquid fractions; and a separation chamber in the form of an elongated, curved conduit. The conduit is fluidically connected to the inlet and the outlets, the outlets are positioned on the disc radially outwardly with respect to the inlet, and the outlets are positioned along the elongated, curved conduit so as to provide a separate collection location for each outlet and so that the densest fraction is separated by the outlet nearest to the inlet and the least dense fraction is separated by the outlet most distal from the inlet.

An ink fountain for a printing press has a temperature-responsive element for compensating the adjustment of the spacing between the blade and the fountain roller to keep the thickness of the ink film fed by the blade substantially constant even under extreme temperature variations. The sub-frame of the ink fountain is pivotally mounted to the main frame of the printing press about a pivot axis generally parallel to the axis of the fountain roller, and the pivot angle is a function of the thermal expansion of the temperature-responsive element. In one preferred embodiment, the temperature-responsive element is elongated, received in a guide fixed to the sub-frame, and has a free end bearing against the bearing bushing of the fountain roller. In another embodiment, the temperature-responsive element is a side wall of the ink trough or is a plate parallel to the side wall of the ink trough, and rollers are journaled to the temperature-responsive element and bear against the surface of the fountain roller. In either embodiment, the temperature-responsive element is pre-stressed by a pull rod tending to pivot the sub-frame so that the temperature-responsive element bears against the sub-frame and the main frame.
