The initiators in two components is for polymerizing and curing a (meth)acrylate compound, and the initiator includes (a) a peroxide being compatible or soluble with water, (b) an aromatic sulfinic acid compound, (c) a tert-amine compound, and (d) water. The polymerizable composition uses the initiators in two components. Particularly, preferably, the polymerizable composition includes a first component and a second component. The first component comprising (a) a peroxide being compatible or soluble with water, and a (meth)acrylate compound, and the second component includes (b) an aromatic sulfinic acid compound, (c) a tert-amine compound, and (d) water.

A dental glass ionomer cement composition includes a copolymer (A), a fluoroaluminosilicate glass powder (B) and water (C). The copolymer (A) includes a polymer or copolymer of α-β unsaturated carboxylic acid, or includes a copolymer of α-β unsaturated carboxylic acid and one or more kinds selected from a group of acrylamide, acrylonitrile, methacrylic acid ester, acrylates, vinyl chloride, allyl chloride and vinyl acetate. In the copolymer (A), the number of molecules of α-β unsaturated carboxylic acid occupies 50% or more of the total number of molecules. The dental glass ionomer cement composition further includes a compound (D) which contains a sulfur atom in one molecule, includes a carboxylic group and an amino group and does not include a polymerizable group.

A dental restorative material is disclosed, comprising an amorphous inorganic material having a refractive index in a D-line of sodium in the range of 1.470˜1.520 and having an X-ray opacity; a (meth)acrylic ester monomer not having a benzene ring in a molecule thereof; and a polymerization initiator, if desired, the dental restorative material according to the invention further comprises an amorphous inorganic material having a refractive index in a D-line of sodium equal to or less than that of the (meth)acrylic ester monomer not having a benzene ring in a molecule thereof, the dental restorative material of the invention has an X-ray opacity and translucency close to natural teeth, and has superior esthetics not using a monomer having a benzene ring which has a fear of an environmental hormone action.

To provide a polymerizable composition having more excellent preservation stability of pastes than a conventional composition using a combination of a copper compound, cumene hydroperoxide, and N-acetylthiourea, and having a polymerization curing time which does not change with time, that is, does not delay or quicken from a time set for a product even though the composition is stored, the polymerizable composition includes a first paste and a second paste, wherein the first paste includes a polymer of α-β unsaturated monocarboxylic acid or α-β unsaturated dicarboxylic acid, water, and a hydroperoxide as a peroxide, and the second paste includes a (meth)acrylate compound not having an acid group, fluoroaluminosilicate glass powder, a thiourea derivative as a reducing material, and a vanadium compound as a polumerization accelerator.
