摘要： A screening method for a substance acting on a maintenance of the epithelial properties of cells which enables obtainment of highly-reliable data quickly at low costs is provided. The screening method includes (a) a step for culturing cells on a cell culture substrate that can form a spheroid, (b) a step for causing the cells to contact a test substance, and (c) a step for evaluating an effect of the test substance acting on a maintenance of the epithelial properties of the cells with a change in a morphology of the spheroid being as an indicator. In this case, the step (c) can carry out an evaluation through a measurement of the number of spheroids in a predetermined size or a measurement of the hypoxic areas in the spheroid.

摘要： A roll paper cutting device is attachable to the main body of an image forming apparatus main body. The roll paper cutting device includes a cutter for cutting the paper of a roll of paper contained therein, as well as an arrangement for feeding the cut sheet to the image forming apparatus. The roll paper cutting device has at least one transport roller for transporting the roll paper, as well as a drive system for driving the transport roller, and a drive change device such as a clutch for selectively bringing the transport roller into idle rotation or into a driven state. A detector detects the travel of the roll paper. A control device such as a CPU controls the rotation of the transport rollers with predetermined timing based on the time when the travel of the roll paper is detected with all the transport rollers in idle rotation in a standby state for paper feeding.

摘要： An electrostatic copying apparatus having a document holding device and a semi-automatic document feeding and discharging device provided on the top of a housing. The semi-automatic document feeding and discharging device includes a main frame structure mounted for free turning between an operating position and a non-operating position. When the main frame structure is held at the operating position, a document conveying passage having an introducing section, a main section and a curved discharging section is defined. The semi-automatic document feeding and discharging device further comprises a document conveying mechanism for conveying a document to be copied through the document conveying passage, a first regulating member located in the introducing section for regulating the position of the document, a second regulating member located near the downstream end of the main section for regulating the position of the document, and a control means for the document conveying mechanism and the first and second document-position regulating members. The document holding device comprises a document holding member and a mounting mechanism therefor. The mounting mechanism includes a support member mounted for free oscillation and upward and downward movement, and the document holding member is pivotally mounted on the support member.

摘要： A cleaning device for use in an electrostatic copying machine removes with a blade any residual toner from a photosensitive body after a toner image has been transferred therefrom to a sheet of copying paper. A support shaft supports the blade for slidable contact with the photosensitive body and has a horizontal axis extending perpendicularly to a direction of travel of the photosensitive body. The support shaft is angularly movable about the axis and is axially movable. A rotational shaft is rotatable about an axis parallel to the support shaft. A first device converts rotational movement of the rotational shaft into reciprocal movement along the axis of the support shaft. A second device converts rotational movement of the rotational shaft into reciprocal angular movement of the support shaft. A third device releases interconnection between the rotational shaft and the first and second devices.

A guide arrangement is provided on the main body for guiding the cutting device for movement in the vertical direction between the feed position and the standby position.

摘要： A copying paper feed device for an electrostatic copier. A copying paper cassette receiving section is adapted to receive a copying paper cassette having a box-like case with a bottom plate the front end of which is biased upwardly by a spring. Within the cassette receiving section, a feed roller is mounted on a rotatable shaft that is adapted to be connected to a drive source. When the copying paper cassette is properly loaded into the cassette receiving section, the front end of the uppermost sheet of copying paper contacts the feed roller. A clutch in its operating condition links the feed roller with the drive source and in its non-operating condition permits the feed roller to freely rotate.
