Abstract:
According to the invention, the rear end of a preceding metal piece and a front end of a succeeding metal piece are heated, pressed and joined prior to the finishing hot rolling. An alternating magnetic field running through the metal pieces in the thickness direction thereof is generated in an end region on opposed faces of the respective metal pieces to perform heating. Another alternating magnetic field whose direction is reverse with respect to that of the former alternating magnetic field is partially generated in the end region on the opposed faces of the metal pieces and in either a region where the metal pieces exist or a region outside width ends of the metal pieces. This assures a uniform heating of the end region on the opposed faces of the metal pieces over their full width to reliably join the both metal pieces to each other.

Methods for controlling blowing, controlling the slag formation and predicting sloping in the blowing of molten pig iron in LD converter are carried out by measuring acceleration of the horizontal movement of a detector, such as a lance provided in the converter, which is caused only by the slag impinging against the lance, by an accelerator, integrating the measured values to obtain integrated average values at every several seconds, and programming the integrated average values in a computer.

A flow control device is provided with a first body having a first port through which pressure fluid is supplied, and a second body which is installed on the first body. A valve mechanism which controls the circulation state of the pressure fluid that circulates from the first port to a second port is provided inside this first body. Furthermore, a first connecting section of the first body is inserted into and engaged with the inside of a second connecting section formed at the upper end of the second body, resulting in the first body and the second body being integrally connected together.

A opening and closing valve comprises ROM in which a plurality of valve-closing program control patterns are stored in order to avoid liquid drip when the valve is closed. The valve further comprises a control unit for controlling a valve plug lift position in a direction to close the valve by controlling an amount of electric power application to a linear voice coil type driving unit in accordance with the valve-closing program control pattern.

A post continuous hot rolling method where a rear end portion of a preced metal block and a fore end portion of a succeeding metal block are cut and the metal blocks joined to each other by heating and pressing followed by a finish rolling, wherein a poorly joined portion is removed by shaving the defective portion through application of rotating cutters prior to a final finish rolling of the joined blocks.

A flow rate control valve, which is capable of controlling the flow rate of a fluid that flows between a pair of ports by displacing a rod, includes a valve mechanism in an axial direction. The valve mechanism includes a body having the ports and a pair of fluid passages through which fluid supplied from the ports flows. The valve mechanism includes a sub-body disposed in an interior of the body, and in which the rod is screw-engaged in an advancing and retracting manner. The valve mechanism also includes a tubular shaped seat connected to an end of the sub-body, including a seat structure to seat the rod thereon, and a hole that communicates between one of the fluid passages and another of the fluid passages.

A continuous hot rolling mill with a metal block conveying apparatus and a metal block joining apparatus which moves with the metal blocks along the metal block conveying apparatus to conform a joining operation. The metal block conveying apparatus uses rollers supported by cylinders with a common hydraulic circuit which allows the cylinders to follow guide rails on the metal block joining apparatus and lower out of the path of the metal block joining apparatus and then return to a metal block support position after the metal block joining apparatus' passage without individual control circuits and valves for each of the cylinders.

The invention comprises a continuous hot rolling method in which a rear end portion of a preceding metal block and a fore end portion of a succeeding metal block are cut and the metal blocks are joined to each other by heating and pressing followed by a finish rolling. A region of each metal block is restrained from a clamping position to the end portion thereof in order to prevent a change in level of the metal blocks in heating and pressing the piece. The end portions of the metal blocks can be thus prevented from deformation.
