Abstract:
A composite bicycle wheel is provided with a first circumferential side wall, a second circumferential side wall and an outer bridge. The first circumferential side wall has a radial inner end and a radial outer end. The second circumferential side wall has a radial inner end and a radial outer end. The outer bridge connects the radial outer ends of the first and second circumferential side walls. At least one of the outer bridge and the first and second circumferential side walls includes a vibration suppression layer.
Abstract:
A circular bicycle rim is provided with a rim body, an annular tire engagement portion and first and second outer peripheral edges. The rim body includes a first annular side wall portion and a second annular side wall portion. The annular tire engagement portion extends between the first and second annular side wall portions to engage a tire thereon. The first and second outer peripheral edges are located between the rim body and the annular tire engagement portion. Each of the first and second outer peripheral edges has an uneven edge surface that repeatedly rises and falls with respect to a radial direction of the bicycle rim.

Abstract:
A suspension assembly for a bicycle frame which elastically supports a rear frame member, which in turn rotatably supports the rear wheel. Preferably, the frame is a two-piece construction with the suspension assembly interconnecting the rear frame to the main frame. The suspension assembly is positioned around the bottom bracket such that the rear frame member pivots about the axis of the bicycle crank axle of the bottom bracket. This arrangement allows the rear wheel and rear frame member to move relative to the main frame, without any adverse affects to the drive train assembly. In the preferred embodiments, drive train assembly can be either a chain drive or a shaft drive. The suspension assembly includes an inner suspension member with the crank axle mounted therein and an outer suspension member surrounding the inner suspension member with a shock absorbing element interposed therebetween. In the preferred embodiment, the shock absorbing element includes a plurality of biasing members.
Abstract:
An apparatus for a disk brake comprises a caliper body having an inner peripheral surface and a seal groove disposed at the inner peripheral surface. The inner peripheral surface is dimensioned to slidably receive a piston therein, wherein the piston moves in a direction of a braking direction axis, and the seal groove is dimensioned to receive a seal therein so that the seal can seal a space between the inner peripheral surface and the piston. The seal groove comprises a movement restricting part that restricts movement of the seal in the direction of the braking direction axis, and a movement permitting part formed as a step facing radially inwardly.
Abstract:
A refrigerator having a main body; a refrigerating compartment arranged at an upper position in the main body to refrigerate foods; and at least three lower compartments vertically arranged under the refrigerating compartment; wherein at least one of the lower compartments is a freezer compartment for freezing foods, and one of the remaining lower compartments is a vegetable compartment to store vegetables or a switchable compartment to make a temperature zone therein switchable between a freezing temperature zone and a temperature zone for refrigerated foods, vegetables or chilled foods.
Abstract:
A mechanism for changing inductance of a push-button tuner which is constructed to be compact and flat in size as to be adapted for use with a tape recorder. The mechanism includes flat slidable cam plates provided with cam portions at the front portions thereof, which are arranged horizontally and slidably through holes of side walls and a push-button assembly slidably arranged in a front and a rear walls, which is equipped with a channeling plate pivotable thereon the position of which may be set at a desired angle by means of the operation of manual shaft when a clutch mechanism is closed. With the advancement of the push-button plate against a coil spring arranged at the end thereof, the projections positioned on the channeling plate set at desired angle collide with the cam portions of the slidable cam plates intermittently whereby the slidable cam plates are shifted conversely and the intermittent shifting movement of the cam plates thus created are transmitted to the foot of a core carriage by turns through a rotation means connected therewith with the result that the cores mounted on the carriage are shiftable back and forth with respect to the coil bodies whereby the variation of inductance is obtained.
Abstract:
A novel compound represented by the formula, ##STR1## WHEREIN R is a hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, said four R's being the same or different; R.sup.1 is hydrogen, an alkali metal, an ammonium group, a mono-to tetra-hydric aliphatic alcohol moiety having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, or an organic amine residue; n is an integer of 1 to 4; and R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 are independently hydrogen or alkyl groups having 1 to 6 carbon atoms or R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 may form a ring when taken together. Said novel compound has properties similar to those of natural rosin or a disproportionated rosin, and is useful as a vehicle for coating compositions and printing inks, as an emulsifier for emulsion polymerization, and as a sizing agent.

Abstract:
The copolymer latex for non-contact coating of the present invention is obtained by emulsion polymerization of a monomer containing from 23 to 58% by mass of an aliphatic conjugated diene monomer, from 0.1 to 7% by mass of an ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer, from 5 to 40% by mass of a vinyl cyanide compound, and from 0 to 71.9% by mass of other monomer capable of being copolymerized with the other monomers (provided that the total amount of the monomers is 100% by mass), and polymer particles contained in the latex have an average particle diameter of from 50 to 150 nm. A coating composition for paper containing the latex, a pigment and the like is suitable for a non-contact coating method, such as a curtain coater and a spray, to obtain coated paper excellent in surface strength, printing gloss and the like with good runnability.
