Abstract:
There is provided a plant cultivating apparatus for saving space in an early stage of growth of plants, increases an amount of plants cultivated per unit space to achieve higher space efficiency, and which provides an optimum environment corresponding to the growth of the plants. The plant cultivating apparatus comprises a plurality of cultivation tray storage shelves arrayed in a plurality of tiers and a plurality of rows, each of the plurality of cultivation tray storage shelves being able to store a cultivation tray capable of cultivating a plurality of plant stocks, a cultivation tray transferring mechanism for moving the cultivation tray, and a handling mechanism capable of gripping and moving the plurality of plant stocks individually from the cultivation tray.
Abstract:
In a rocker joint silent chain, the link plates have two different engagement pitches, and the connecting pins are composed of combinations of rocker pins and joint pins, where each rocker pin has one of two thicknesses and each joint pin has one of two thicknesses, so that the rocker joint pins of the chain have three different thicknesses. The link plates and connecting pins are arranged randomly along the length of the chain.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an electrode member for specific detection of an analyte using a photocurrent. The electrode member has at least a conductive substrate and an electron-accepting substance provided on said conductive substrate. The aforementioned electron-accepting substance consists at least of a first substance layer that is made of a semiconductor and a second substance that is made of a semiconductor of a kind different from that of the aforementioned semiconductor, a metal or a metal oxide, and is carried on the surface of said first substance layer. With the electrode member, improved detection sensitivity for the test substance and improved measurement precision can be achieved with specific detection of an analyte using a photocurrent.

Abstract:
In a silent chain comprising interleaved and relatively pivotable rows of link plates, protrusions formed in the link plates contact relatively pivotable link plates in adjacent rows so that the area of contact is reduced. The protrusions can be annular, or they can be in the form of arcs that are of a size and position such that the arcuate protrusions of each plate do not interfere with the arcuate protrusions of an adjacent plate as the chain bends during use. The plates can have rectangular protrusions, or arcuate protrusions each consisting of an arc-shaped collection of dot-shaped protrusions.
Abstract:
A conveyor chain has a number of chain units connected together by connecting pins in an endless fashion. Each of the chain units is composed of a plurality of inverted tooth plates disposed in the width direction of the chain, and a slat disposed on one side of the tooth plates and extending across the width of the chain transversely across the tooth plates for carrying an object to be conveyed. The tooth plates each have a pair of inverted teeth formed on the other side thereof for meshing with sprocket teeth, and a pair of pin-accommodation holes for receiving a pair of connecting pins, respectively. The connecting pins each connect adjacent two chain units such that the tooth plates of one chain unit are interleaved with the tooth plates of the other chain unit.
Abstract:
A silent chain, as well as a rocker pin and a plate of the silent chain, are provided which are capable of enhancing the transmission efficiency, and improving the fatigue strength of the plate to thereby prolong the service life of the silent chain. Rocker pins are inserted into the pin holes of each plate of a plurality of plates of a silent chain. The rocker pins are located closer to outer ends of the plate and are formed with generally flat plate abutting surfaces. The plate abutting surfaces are received by generally flat pin seating surfaces of the pin holes, respectively, to surely prevent rotation of the rocker pins relative to the pin holes. Further, in addition to the generally flat pin seating surfaces, generally flat and short continuous surfaces are formed centrally up and down of each pin hole. Thus, stress concentration on the plate is diminished and the fatigue strength of the plate is improved.
Abstract:
A novel and improved rotary shaft coupling including a ball-type speed reducer. A driving disc is coupled to a driven disc through a plurality of balls loosely held in a circular array of holes. Each ball registers with opposing faces of elliptic and hypocycloidal grooves of the driven and driving disc, respectively. When the driving disc is rotated, the balls transmit a turning force through the grooves to the driven disc. Speed reduction is determined by the number of waves in the hypocycloidal groove exceeding, by an even number, the number of balls.

Abstract:
A silent chain transmission utilizes two different kinds of link plates. In a first kind of link plate, the inner flank pitch line is farther than the outer flank pitch line from the chain pitch line. In a second kind of link plate the inner flank pitch line is closer than the outer flank pitch line from the chain pitch line. Every four successive links includes at least one link composed of one type of link plate and at least one link composed of the other type of link plate.
